Mrs. Chas. Brande took her granddaughter Pairlee Ramsey to Beatrice Saturday then returned by the evening train. Bert Ewers of Fairbury visited Sunday with his mother Mrs. Ewers sister Mrs. Isabella Raymond and other Diller relatives.
Melvin W. Carpenter of Odell aged 37 and Mise Myrtle Livengood of the Wymmore vicinity aged 24 were married at Fairbury the first of the week Wyomre Arbor State.
An advertisement for Superior Brand soda water promotes quality with pasteurized soda and a claim of no higher price. It notes availability through J. G. Packer and emphasizes the product as the best option.
All Sons of Veterans and all sons of old soldiers are asked to meet at the Diller Mercantile Co. store on Monday evening, April 30. By request of some interest.
Mrs. Glen Harvey heard a strange noise and found a four foot rattlesnake with eight rattles near her doorstep while her baby played nearby. She killed the reptile with a hoe, preventing potential harm. The incident occurred this spring as part of a local snake sighting spree.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Nickeson and children and Mr and Mrs Will Nickeson of the Ellis neighborhood spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Harley Clark in Diller.

Burlington agent F W Black and his family depart Monday for a thirty day trip through the southern states to Florida, with plans to return via New York Niagara Falls and Chicago. Relief agent R A Steenbock will handle the company’s business in his absence.
On February 28, Mrs E Porritt and Mr J Arthur wed in a quiet ceremony officiated by Rev J G Rogers. The couple will reside on a Sunbeam district farm. Porritt was formerly Effie Wagenaar of Diller, daughter of Mrs C H Bond, drawing many friends from the Diller area.
Nebraska items include dry weather note for next Tuesday, sale ads for gasoline range and alfalfa seed with price changes, farm residence addition by Herman Sixel, piano or violin lessons offered, births and visits of locals, blacksmith tools for sale, slightly used prano for sale, and contact notes for horse talked business. Also notices of farm tools and timber, with several 4 20 31 date markers and local agent references.
Wilson Brandt offers a 2-4 Percheron stallion weighing 1800 pounds and a Mammoth jack 154 hands high for service at his residence three miles south and one mile east of Diller. Terms: ten dollars to stand and suck. Due care will be taken but no liability for accidents.
We thank the neighbors and relatives for kindness and assistance during our child’s illness death and burial. Grateful for the floral offerings and the quartette’s songs and Rev Bird’s comforting words. Diller Nebraska April 21 1917.
The young ladies class of the Methodist Sunday School surprised Ethel Pickard at the home of Mr and Mrs Geo Pickard. Friends enjoyed social games and refreshments provided by Mrs Pickard and Mrs Mattie Clark. The group presented Ethel with a handsome gift.
Leslie Osborn formerly of Diller, organizer of the Diller Telephone Co and brother of Mrs. A H Colman, is rising in finance. He is now stockholder and assistant cashier at American National Bank in Racine Wisconsin, a bank organized in 1917 with capital under 75000 and assets exceeding a million dollars.
Rev. F. A. Carmony and son Arthur returned from Omaha where Arthur was sent from Edgar for his navy physical. He passed the exam but was rejected due to a recent illness. He is the only Diller boy to enlist thus far.
Campbell Bros World Famous New Orleans Minstrels will perform under canvas this Saturday evening April 28. The show features a large company of colored performers delivering plantation style songs and music. A noon street parade precedes a Big Free Attraction by the Campbell Show Horses Rob Roy and Colonel, noted for high jumping.
The K K K club’s second division hosted the first division and their husbands at Mrs. Robertson’s home on Thursday evening April 19. Guests entered a Union depot themed room with a railroad party vibe and characters including an English duke and his bride. The train journey featured a darky porter, a news boy with The Diller Record, and a luncheon in the dining car before returning toward Shen.
Seven loads of stock went to the St. Joe market from Diller this week. Fred Henrichs delivered two cattle loads and Jas Long delivered two cattle and hogs. The Diller Shipping Association sent hogs on Monday and Wednesday. Mr Henricks and Mr Long accompanied their loads to market.

Christian urges large attendances as two Sundays bring big crowds. Bible school growth prompts a plan for a car crowd contest with May and June genders contesting attendance. A photo will honor the largest car crowd and services remain at the usual hour.
