Mrs Arnold O Lottman received a telegram from the secretary of war stating her husband Pfe Arnold O Lottman was seriously wounded April 4 on Okinawa and is being moved to a base hospital. A hospital ship in the rear areas is his apparent location with wording about his address and unit details adjusted.

Fanders Attend Son’s Graduation at Fort Sill Oklahoma

Mr and Mrs Fanders left Beatrice by bus Thursday evening to attend their son Wendell’s graduation from officers Training school at Fort Sill Oklahoma. They returned to Diller Sunday.

Eickmeyers Move to Plymouth. Cafe Sold to Folkers

Mr and Mrs Wm Eickmeyer and son Alvin depart for their new home in Plymouth. Bill’s cafe has been taken over by Mr and Mrs John Folker who purchased the business recently and moved their household goods into the Lukas house. Mr Eickmeyer is hospitalized in Beatrice for treatment for over a week.

Miss Gretchen Fanders Visits Diller From Los Angeles

Miss Gretchen Fanders of Los Angeles arrives in Diller to visit relatives. She is employed by United War Agencies of California. Among 2,400 U S repatriates from Japanese prison camps in the Philippines were five members of the David Innis family, son of CF and Mre Innis, former Diller pastors.

His brother Cpl Bernard arrives on furlough from Charlestown to visit. Family members gather at relatives homes as they await his next departure.

Buys 80 Acres at Partition Sale

Lawrence Caldwell was high bidder at the partition sale in Fairbury for 80 acres known as the Bowsher estate. The land sold for $3,000 or $37.50 per acre, described as fair and unimproved. Caldwell has farmed the land as a long time tenant of 30 years. Theo Bowsher resides in Colorado.

Community Clothing Drive Supports Jefferson Depot

Local residents donated about a ton of used clothing to a drive at Farmers Store Jordenings Store and Wagorner Bros Store. Herman Stzhi personally transported the collections to the Jefferson Collection Depot in Fairbury on two trips.

Diary Feed Payment Rates Revised for Next Year

The Diary Feed payment schedule sets monthly rates for whole milk and butterfat over twelve months from April to March 1946. Rates include 60 cents per cwt for whole milk in April and again in Oct 1945 to Mar 1946, with butterfat at 17 cents per pound in April, 10 and 13 cents in May June and July August September, and 7e per pound in the Oct-March period. Payments will be made quarterly.

Diller High Students Report on Banquet and Track Meet

Diller High School notes a Junior Senior banquet set for Saturday at the Congregational annex. In their first track meet at Doane College Crete on April 27 Daniel Barber won the quarter mile, Andy Snyder was third in the half mile, and Dale Engleman placed third in the mile.
