Diller prepares a large athletic banquet in the gym on Tuesday April 7. About 150 to 160 men and boys are expected to attend. Ticket committee includes Francis Clark Ray Green and Scott Miller. Women from the Methodist and Congregational churches under Mrs Ray Green will serve.
Charles Barber and three truck loads of cattle from his feed yards head to the St Joe market using the Roelfs fleet. Barber accompanied the trip and enjoyed the journey. He notes good whiskey and catfish at St Joe. Barber has sent nine cattle loads to market this winter and spring.
Roelf Brothers August and Girret sent two cart loads of two year old cattle to Kansas City via the Burlington from Shea on Tuesday. The group bought costly hay last winter to feed the herd. Roy Schultis, nephew to the gentlemen, accompanied August to Kansas City.
Fire destroyed the Richardson county poor farm residence Tuesday forenoon leaving twenty six aged persons homeless. The blaze is believed to have started from a defective flue. The thirty room structure burned quickly and inmates were led to safety.
Jeannette Wather the daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Wather was burned when lysol spilled on her legs and abdomen. Prompt treatment relieved her pain and she is doing nicely now.
Gerald and Dale Friday started from Grundy City Indiana on a cattle transport Wednesday. Keith Waggoner accompanied them to survey the country and they plan to return to Diller for another load.
A farmer’s oil meeting is called for tomorrow evening at the Blauser school house to discuss the site of a proposed new bulk oil station in this county corner.
Mr and Mrs R F Frisbie departed Thursday with their household goods for a new home in Pattsmouth Nebraska where Ralph has found steady employment Their address is 126 4th street.
Miss Gretchen Wohbsfarth has received her commission as post master at Diller and patrons may expect a change in management soon, perhaps about the first of April.
A brief note records the Record's fiftieth year in Diller. The couple was moved to this place from Endicott in 1887 by Mr. Pearce.
The Green Room Cafe changes hands as Erwin Fanders sells his interest to Barber who will take possession on April 1.
Seven of the thirty-two men enlisted by the Omaha District in December have secured assignments to Navy Service schools.
School staff are away this weekend as Diller hosts a quiet period with teachers taking spring vacation to visit home folks.
Temporary committees and agricultural agents hold community meetings to register farmers for the Soil Conservation Program. Over 500 farm leaders met in Grand Island for a two day conference to finalize plans. In Jefferson County local elections will form precinct committees and county association leadership, with land appraisal and program details to follow.
The Diller Womans Club gathered at Mrs. W A Schindler home with Mrs. L Sinkey as assistant hostess. President announced district convention at Aurora Nebraska April 16 and 17. Talks covered child problem solutions values and nursery versus garage luxuries education. Music and poems by members enhanced the evening. refreshments served.
Mise Delano's civics class will meet at the Library Friday night at 7 30 to explore public interest in the constitution. The session asks what the document means for the average person and whether it hinders or helps daily life. Everyone is welcome.
Miss Lucille Barnett who underwent a major operation at Odell hospital last week is recovering nicely and expects to return to the senior class at Diller high. She finds her illness in senior year tough and says she could eat more than the dietitian permits.
Mr. Delo from near Beatrice relocates his family to the A J Cally farm southeast of town recently vacated by Orval Richardson. Mr. Delo and Sesna Moser roamed the hills near Se ae Kaneas as boys other near the area.
Fairbury senior Dale Tinstman earned a place on Nebraska’s annual All-State eight, as selected by five college coaches. He helped Fairbury basketball and was noted for character, with his name also on the high school honor roll and praised for never smoking.
A G R party for county girls and sponsors was held at the Fairbury high school building last Tuesday. The evening featured a program with G R members, a candle light service, games, and refreshments of ice cream and cake. Attendees included Dorothy Barber Eunice Barber Margaret Barber Gretchen Fanders Lucille Findling Betty Thompson Doris Hudson Delpha Wiemers Mary Beckwith Dorothy Hilder Bernice Ferry Elizabeth Green and thanks were given to Betty and Lucille for cakes and to Mrs Sinkey and Mr Fandre for rides.
Notice states Diet Village will hold an election at City Halls on Tuesday April 7 1936 to elect three trustees for two years and two school board members for three years. Polls open 8 a m and close 8 p m. Chas E Waggoner village clerk.

More than 400 people attended the Pioneer Music Contest in Diller last Friday with 160 contestants and the Fairbury high school band. The event, judged by Miss Lois McNitt, awarded Diller six trophies and three gold medals plus the sweepstakes trophy.
The J N C club gathered Thursday March 13 with most members present. Requests included Mrs Rucone Hubka Mrs Asa aus Tizard Mrs G Ethel Hiatt Miss Idola task Chane and Miss Gladys Hays. Hostess presented two centa rears to Coen and Rudolph Hubka with ace. Members received heart sister gifts and refreshments were served. The group plans to meet with Mrs Henry Shale on April 8.
