A meeting of the Prairie Home Cemetery Association of Diller Nebraska is called at City Hall on March 24 1934 at 2 PM to consider reinvesting the upkeep deposit. L M Cavett is president and Chas E Waggoner is clerk.
Mr and Mrs Emil Tarnow Jr and Mr and Mrs Car Tarnow of Omaha visited Diller this week to attend the funeral of Mrs Emil Tarnow Sr their step mother.
The Record notes a band performed in Hanover Kansas at the High School Auditorium Thursday evening with Diller entertainers and about 40 Hanover orchestra members. Refreshments were served to attendees from Diller and local orchestra members. A business deal closes making H A Box Holle a partner with George Rahman in a Diller restaurant expansion relocating stock from Milon drug store. The Holles plan to return by April 1 to operate the new restaurant living quarters with Mrs. Holle overseeing the culinary department. Box Holle has long served as manager for Beatrice Power and Light Co. in the area.
Mr and Mrs Birl Snyder of Alliance visit Diller relatives during Easter season with a display of candy rabbits eggs and assorted bars noted at George's Cafe.
Tickets are available at the library for the puppet show tomorrow evening at the opera house. Mrs. Carl Farhenwald nee Miss Larte Bristor visits her father Ab Bristor. Mr Farhenwald has joined the railroad.
Mrs Emil Tarnow a longtime resident of Steele City dies March 13 1934 after a lingering illness at her home. She left a husband five daughters four sons and many relatives. Funeral was held in Steele City and burial in Diller cemetery. Tomka Margarette Senior born in Germany February 26 1856 died March 13 1934 age 78 years 18 days. She married Eilert Franzen in 1873 and later Emil Tarnow in 1898. Survived by husband five daughters four sons 13 grandchildren eight great grandchildren one sister four brothers and many friends. Irene Hill faced a small blaze at the post office when a basket of cobs near the stove caught fire. Firefighters and bystanders worked to remove the burning basket outside as it fell apart.

The 1932 Horace Kansas train death and two youths killed in Horace yards are linked to a robbery. Confessions by two gang members lead to arrests in Tribune Kansas.

Beatrice American Legion plans a twenty five round boxing event at the Southern Kansas Stage depot on March 22 featuring Buzz Smith versus Freddy Augerra and a final ten round bout with Kid Waldorf and Curly Fair.
