The Diller Towners A combined Diller Hasbine basketball team finished third in a tournament in Alexandria. They lost the semi final 28 to 25 to Hebron College, which beat Milligan 29 to 23. Beatrice Merchant Mercer Walker Found Dead
Mercer B Walker a 69 year old Beatrice merchant was found dead in his room at the Paddock Hotel with a bullet wound. County Attorney Van Borkum said he shot himself with a 32 caliber revolver citing despondency over financial worries as the cause. The Walker store was sold last December.

Death of Thomas Hood in McPaul Iowa at 75
Mrs J J Clancy of Beatrice received word Monday that her brother Thomas Hood died at his home in McPaul Iowa at age 75 after suffering a stroke last week. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. Hood formerly lived on a farm northeast of Diller.
