School and Village Candidates Named

Two caucuses were held at the town hall Wednesday evening to nominate candidates for the school and village terms. For the school board three year seats J Smith Diller and L M Cavett sought reelection, with Mrs Roy Geer and Mrs Dede Fanders on the opposing ticket. One year vacancy nominees were Lester Schmadeke and Mrs O J Mayborn. S C Moser, J Clauson and W E Anderson were named for village trustees. The picnic committee includes W E Anderson E E McCune and L M Caveer.

Eph Oaks Dies After Illness At Odell Hospital

Mr Eph Oaks died last night at Odell hospital after several years of illness. He was admitted Monday and funeral arrangements have not been announced. The body rests at Waggoner's funeral home.

Mrs. Dietrick Ward Passes Away in Falls City

Mrs. Dietrick Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carico, died Tuesday at her Falls City home after a long illness from stomach cancer.

No Movies Canceled by Storm This Week

Richardson Couple News From Odell Blizzard Visit

Mr Richardson and Mrs A O Richardson report the husband was taken to Odell hospital Sunday evening for treatment. He is improving and hopes to go home soon. Mrs Richardson's cousin Mrs Frank Bryan of Aurora Nebraska is visiting. She arrived before the sale and is snowbound. neighbors Chas Weibel Guy Learned Frank Grone and Will Amos helped clear paths.

Visit West Nebraska relatives take weekend trip

Visit by Mr and Mrs Rex A Green and son Darrell Dee with H E Green left Friday for western Nebraska. H E Green stopped at Gothenberg to see daughter Helen teaching there. The group visited Bridgeport with daughter and sister Mrs Ernest Gorr whose husband is Bridgeport schools coach. The party returned home Sunday evening.

Clarence Krebs will farm the Pittenger place this year and plans to reside there soon after Ralph Hudson moved to Fairbury. Clarence Renz and family moved from Fitzgerald ranch to Mrs. Albers place north of Diller. Max Logan to farm the Orphanage place next season. Olin Ulm family moved from Albers farm to Arthur Grone place northeast of town. Ralph Hudson moved to Mendenhall place near Fairbury. Adam Wasserman Jr. moved onto Mrs. Lines farm five miles northeast of town.

Emma Thompson Carpenter obituary from Ellis Nebraska

Emma Thompson Carpenter born August 28 1874 died February 25 1939 at her Ellis home. She married Rufus Thompson in 1894 and William Carpenter in 1913. Survivors include children Sylvia Ray Carrie and Clarence and many grandchildren and siblings. Funeral services were held at the Ellis Methodist Church with interment at Prairie Home cemetery Diller.
