Diller High School debaters Esther Green Jeroen em Carl Forsythe and Earl Snyder argued against the closed shop at a Lutheran church debate in Hardy last Friday evening. Judges included Dr Edwin Macxy state university Prof Geo Crocker Lincoln and Hon Jean A Cobbey Beatrice. Green led with points on monopoly economic harm and personal freedom of contract, winning top individual marks.
The No 14 Baton's Denver St Louis flyer wreck occurred Wednesday morning two and a half miles west of Diller while descending Shea grade at over 40 mph. Spreading rails likely caused the crash. Engine left the grade and struck earth on the track’s south side. Most cars left the north track side. baggage car slid a hundred feet. combination mail car and smoker burned end for end and threw clear of the right of way. Conductor S N in charge was among the injured. Forty passengers on No 13 did not travel with the wreck. Train No 14 waited at Odell for forty five minutes before reaching the scene. Additional notes include local residents and various personal absences and movements.
The Schildkrets Hungarian Orchestra, famed from the World's Fair year, returns to Chicago for a Saturday evening program at the M E Church on March 9. Tickets are sold at the door after the opera house fire, with the program starting promptly at 8 o clock. Presented by J W Fouts and A Eastwood with C Hutchinson.
F. P. Tatmah came home Tuesday from a business trip to Superior. Mrs. Charley Hood returned Wednesday from Kansas City where she has been receiving medical treatment.
