Keith Hudson, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Hudson, fractured both bones in his right forearm above the wrist when he tried to turn over an old Ford motor in the yard and it backfired. This marks another in a series of injuries for the boy.
Mr and Mrs Chas E Wag goner visited Beatrice on Wednesday. They called on Mrs Ross Hayes who moved from Mennonite hospital to her parents home. Hayes is convalescing from a recent illness at her parents home.
Rev and Mrs Proett with Mr and Mrs Isaac Saylor visited Beatrice on Tuesday. They called on the Joseph Albright family and reported Mr Albright able to be about the house though not in good health. Mrs Albright was somewhat indisposed.
The Daily Press reports Gretchen Wobi forth was appointed postmaster at Dilner among several announcements. No official notice reached her by press time, but the news is considered authentic.
The 80 acre Wiill ema farm four miles west of Diller was sold at the courthouse in Fairbury last Monday, advertised through Hartigee and Scullery by the P.O. price noted as $600.
Last Thursday at the State Engineer's office in Lincoln contracts for road works in Nebraska were awarded. The graveling of 50 miles from Willer north to No 3 was among them and the job was awarded to Mr. Lippincott for $3 054.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Green of Duncan Nebraska planned a short visit with daughter Eliven and husband but were turned back Tuesday as the Platte River ran at flood stage, forcing their return home.
The civics class will meet Friday evening at Mrs O J Mayborp's at 7:30. Members will receive lesson sheets soon and are asked to bring questions on discussion topics or current events.
The Sunday Journal Star reports the marriage of Miss Phyllis H Patton daughter of Mr and Mrs J H Patton of Lincoln to Mr James Williams on February 17 1936 in Lincoln.
Mrs Remley enjoys sunny weather while tidying the yard and preparing winter beds as pansies begin to appear.
J. Smith Diller drivers a brand new Pontiac sedan since Tuesday this week replacing his heavy Buick in a car trade.
Mrs Metts the Beatrice nurse who tended Mrs Frank Grabber during her recent illness departed for home today.
Wm. Bond has been appointed village marshal to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Chas. Green.
Mr and Mrs Sam Friday and their family left Monday evening at 5 30 by truck and auto for a new home in Grundy County Iowa. They expect to drive all night. The Fridays have lived on the farm one mile west of Diller Nebraska since the 1880s and friends regret their move. Sam Friday hopes to farm in a county with more certain crops. Henry Wessel plans to take over the place next season.
Plans are complete for a Vocational Guidance Conference to be held at Fairbury High School on Tuesday evening March 19 at 7:30. Competent speakers will lead the general conference and group sessions. No enrollment fee. All youth aged 16 to 25 urged to attend. Rev. R E Deadman chairs the arrangements committee.
Miss Donna Weddie, in Diller last Friday by the Burlington, visits Sterling Colorado with her father Harry Weddie and family. She says the family is getting along nicely and Harry has built a dairy business, starting with one cow and now milking 38, with a full line of dairy products.
Henry Wright visited with friends and relatives in and near Diller early this week. He recently sold his Denver barbershop and plans to travel before settling again. He stayed at his sister Mrs Verge Jeffries home just north of Lanham during her husband’s illness and death, helping where needed.
Last week the Daykin Herald reported B A Greenwood purchased the Corner Cash Grocery from Lowell Snyder and would take possession on Monday March 2. The Greenwoods lived for years on the Celman farm south of Steele City and have a daughter in Daykin.
Ralph Frisbie held a farm equipment sale as the Record forms closed for the issue. It was a fine day and the Frisbies announced they are quitting farming but have not stated their plans.
Walter Hauver leaves his five miles southwest of Diller home after several years and relocates to a larger farm on No 3S just west of Concordia. The move places him on the north side of the roadway with access to richer acreage and improved farming opportunities.
Chas. E. Dart, a country salesman for Mosery Harris at Fairbury, visited Diller on Wednesday to attend business in the vicinity.
Waggoner Brothers ambulance responded to the home of Mr Holly one mile west of Hollenberg on Monday to transport him to Odell hospital.
J Smith Diller visited Lincoln on Tuesday accompanied by his daughter Eloise as part of a family could be a social call noted by local reporters.
Lucille Barnett is slowly recovering from a recent illness, with steady improvement noted by family. Medical updates indicate she is responding to treatment and resting at home.
The library will hold evening hours Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM continuing into the near term to serve patrons seeking after hours access.
Mr and Mrs Slocum aged in their 80s and their son in law Frank Robinson report their Beat Rice to Diller home was robbed last Sunday. Thief pried open the padlock and took over 100 cans of fruit and vegetables from the couple’s stored supplies. They note the theft occurs while aid attempts to help the needy are ongoing.
The Tuesday caucus met at 8:00 PM with Dr Viers in order. Candidates J Smith Diller, D V Fanders, Ben Hall and LM Cavett were nominated for the school board to fill two three year terms at the April election. The village caucus also met with WA Lover E E McCune and Jobo Steiner nominated for village seats. A committee of J J Smith Diller De S B Viers and C L Waggoner was named to fill vacancies if needed. W E Anderson served as secretary.
Odell Oracle reports the city water tower riser pipe is gradually thawing from the recent freeze and the tank should be back in service soon if it does not freeze again. Residents wonder if ice water will be provided in summer. current tanks at city hall basement are warm while the water remains cold as ice.
Mrs Christie Seaman received warm birthday greetings from relatives and friends in Davenport Iowa after years away. A postal card show from the Senior and Loyal Women of the Christian church marked the occasion last Saturday.
Mr and Mrs R F Starr visiting at the home of their daughter Mrs Floyd Hughes in Steele City. Fred has a three week vacation from duties with Prudential Insurance. They plan a short visit with brother Will Starr in Texas during the period.
Mrs. Mary Willems, seriously ill at her daughter Mrs. S. A. Miller's home, was threatened with pneumonia. Pneumonia was checked and she is quite improved though still weak. Dr. O. C. Diehl attended for a time.
Ralph Carpenter fractures a bone above the ankle while rising from a chair to clean his car wheels. He uses crutches during recovery.
The Volunteer Fire Department and local business men sponsor a three act comedy at the Diller opera house on March 14. Cast includes Wilbur Green Russell McCreight Wendell Fanders Lloyd Sinkey Pauline Patton Cleo Green Iris Haniel Trene Halil Goldie Sinkey Martha Clark directed by Mrs Sinkey with a plot about a bankrupt Fuller family and a missing green skirt that hid stock fortunes. Tickets sold by Diller merchants with price 15 cents for adults 25 cents without ticket 10 cents for children. Community notes cover local families and school activities.
Mr Eve Roelfs drew publicity when, during an old age pension inquiry, he said his only income last year besides relief work was $2 from prize whiskers won at the annual picnic last August. The unusual source sparked local interest.

The Diller Womans Club meets at 2 30 pm with hostesses Mrs John Pulec and Mrs F Johnson. Leaders include Mrs Grace Fasnacht Mrs George Riddle and Parliamentarian Mrs R ong. Roll call features a Pioneer poem. Topic Teaching daughters the handiwork of grandmothers. Members bring self made articles for display and explain their methods. Food items from project pamphlets may also be shown. Paper art in the home and readings include The Tapestry Weavers and The Quilting Party. Songs of old times planned.
An enjoyable afternoon at the home of Mrs. Nancy Robertson on February 26 featured two clever contests and prize winners Mrs. Ray Eick and Mrs. Quinter Fry. Guests included Misses Carrie Linn and Lela Robertson with a luncheon served by the hostess and Mrs. Chas. Waggoner and Miss Lela Robe. Next meeting to be announced.
