Sunday school schedules for St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran near Diller W I Plager superintendent Methodist Episcopal and Congregational churches listed with superintendents. Local social notes mention a Keystones Kensington gathering at Mrs R Green and a photo request. Also covered are local visits, court term opening, farming activity, property repairs, and upcoming play and dog show with related performances.
A Lincoln license granted last week authorized the marriage of George C. H Janssen and Myrtle C Sonnenberg, both residents of the Harbine vicinity. The ad also notes wool suit samples available and a phone contact.
Mr and Mrs W M Henrichs and children drove to Linenin Sunday to visit Mrs H K Shutt and Miss Henrichs remained through Tuesday for the gathering with relatives.
The improved quarter section farm of Thos Ewing, north of Harbine, sold at sheriff’s sale last week for $8,000, equal to the first mortgage. The Bankers Life Insurance Co of Nebraska bid in the property as mortgage holder. A second mortgage was recorded.
Getrude Lottman was surprised Sunday evening by friends and relatives who gathered to celebrate her birthday with a late hour lunch. Mr and Mrs John Pulece drove to Lincoln to visit Mrs James and family. Mrs James visited with her sister Mrs John Pulece. Mrs Isaac Saylor joined the trip to Lincoln to see cousin Mrs McPeck and daughter Mrs Flash and husband. Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Pulee.
The board met at Waggoner Bros. store in called session with Clauson Andrews Green and Snyder present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bills approved include fire nozzle lumber meter salary and utilities for General Water Eight Funds and dog license tag procurement. The clerk was instructed to procure the 1933 dog license tag and the board adjourned at the chairman’s call.
Mrs Chas Hilder visits Mrs Earl Harris on Wednesday. The Nickeson baby in the Ellis neighborhood recovers from a serious illness. A small town proves a good place to live, and neighbors watch each other.
Ducks are flying northward, another sign of spring arrival as the lame ducks head homeward within a day or two.
Clarence Walters of Harbine sustained a double fracture of an ankle when his team ran away one day last week while he was driving to his mother’s home near there. He was taken to a Beatrice hospital.
Cornbelt Lumber Co. in Diller Nebraska advertises triple strength Carborene for poultry mites at 50 cents per gallon. The notice gives the store's phone number 153 and lists L. Geer and Mer as contacts.
Mrs Arabel Boggs called to Broken Bow Nebraska by the death of her daughter Mrs M Boggs of that place The Boggses were former Diller residents and Ike s wife died a daughter of Mr and Mrs Harvey Stevens who lived nearby She will be remembered by older residents of the community
A notice invites interested residents to join a beginner band class with six arrangements to be completed by next Monday. Baritones and altos are especially in demand as the group rehearses and final plans are presented.
Sunday February 26 marked the wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs S A Woods at Kiwanis Camp Milford Nebraska. Woods family and relatives from Lincoln Fairbury Beatrice Steele City Fremont Carlisle Carleton and Lincoln attended with baskets. Guests enjoyed dining boating photos and a post dinner stroll before travel home.
The foreclosure sale of the Wm John farm southeast of Fairbury was called off after Sheriff Ackman received word from Prudential Insurance Co stating it would cooperate with Governor Bryan to extend farmers aid by granting a moratorium on mortgage indebtedness.
Lew Shelly 68 former owner and publisher of the Fairbury News Gazette died Sunday night in St. Petersburg Florida where he spent the winter with his wife and son Max. His illness was brief. He had worked at Tecumseh Beatrice and Wymore before Fairbury and served two years as deputy county treasurer before buying the News from A H Hammond. His body will be returned to Fairbury for burial with arrangements unfinished at record time.

A surprise gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Lottman on Wednesday February 22 hosts 45 relatives and friends to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary. The evening included cards dancing and visiting with a midnight lunch before departure. One Who Was There.
