World Day of Prayer service fills Lutheran Church
Fire Department called to a tractor blaze near Diller after Henry Saathoff’s Ford tractor caught fire spreading near the house. The incident occurred Tuesday at 1:30 p m. the tractor motor sustained heavy damage. The day also featured a World Day of Prayer service at the Lutheran Church with a large offering of 53 08 and attendance by numerous local church members.

Charley Haad, 81, a Hood resident for many years, died Friday afternoon at Odell Hospital. Born in Meson City, St, he came to Nebraska in youth. Survivors include one son and two daughters, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery Beatrice. The Diller community club meeting drew 500, featuring Lions Club music and Weers Bros Orchestra. an auction raised 29.50 for the March of Dimes. In sports, the high school girls volleyball team won the Pioneer Conference tournament at Daykin, defeating Daykin 45-32 with Eckdott taking third after a close game. Diller beat Daykin twice in the regular season but Daykin won the tournament final.

John Ulch Funeral Rites Held in Sioux City

City and School Caucuses Held Wednesday Night
City and school caucuses met at City Hall on Wednesday night. Attendees included L. C. Royle and Alfred Sasse who were nominated for two year terms on the village board. Terms for Donald McKenzie and Alfred Sasse expire May 1. Weigel, Logan, Chester, Weaver and Herman Stahl were nominated for the school board with two elected for three year terms. Birth of a son for Mr and Mrs Gerald Holtmeier
A boy was born to Mr and Mrs Gerald Holtmeier of Hojienberg at Odell hospital on February 25. Mrs Holtmeier was formerly Grace Mathias of Ellis Five coyotes were bagged in the Wolf hunt west of Diller Sunday. The 90 square mile hunt drew a large crowd and three airplanes aided the roundup northwest of the Shea elevator. Albert Hohbein was accidentally shot in the peck and Elton Schmidt injured in the leg and wrist during the hunt east of Plymouth. Both men are Plymouth residents and not seriously hurt.
