A new parade theme The Parade Of Song will anchor Diller's Picnic on August 10 and 11 1939 led by Mrs Dora Miller head of the program committee. The plan calls for entries from all ages with a wide range of songs and styles and a six week push to prepare floats and entries. A corps of assistants has been named and Mrs Miller invites all Diller residents to join the effort.

Local crew aids track wreck near Morrowville Kansas
Section Forman Harry Close and four men Wilbur Green Obed Carpenter La Forrest Fasnacht and Clarence Robson responded to a call to clear Burling ton tracks near Morrowville. Three Jefferson County Land Deals Settle At Auction
On Monday June 19 three land sales in Jefferson county occurred at low prices. Arnold Ruhnke bought a quarter section near Jansen for 20 dollars per acre from the Gerhart D Friesen estate and P. J. Thiesesen purchased 120 acres of the same estate 124 miles south of Jansen for 26 dollars per acre. A separate 301 acre tract north of Reynolds from the W. H Avery estate sold to E Cerveny for 22 dollars per acre. All sales subject to court confirmation. Fairbury Journal.

Riverside couple details cross country trip to the east
Mr and Mrs Walter Leaper of Riverside California arrived here after a cross country journey begun May 30. They toured the Gulf coast Washington D C New York world fair Chicago Minneapolis and other cities. They logged 5760 miles with only 35 cents in repairs and saw tornado damage near Anoka Minnesota. Walter works in a Riverside Safeway meat department and reported relatives Frank Leaper and Will Leaper doing well in Minneapolis and Spokane.
