Heavy rain and thunder sweep the area with 0.8 inches on Tuesday and 0.25 inches on Thursday. Indian Creek floods again, water overtopping the bridge and extending across the roadway. O Brauser notes 5.75 inches for June so far, while many who left Nebraska would not recognize the place.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers and two sons visited from Sutherland Nebraska arriving Monday and staying until Tuesday morning with Harold’s mother Mrs. James A. Pickard. They attended a Carleton wedding Tuesday for Mrs. Bowers’ cousin Miss Atwood sister of Julietta Atwood.

Three friends said he was floating on a log in the deepest part when it turned over and he could not swim. He was part of a Jansen youth group that gave a program at the Congregational church last winter.
Burlington bridge crew works west of the depot on a cement R R bridge across Ingan creek east of the yards. The structure has settled at the east end while Emil Anderson and his crew, who built it twenty five years ago, oversee the repair and living quarters on the siding.
4 H club meeting of Harbine stockmen held at Alan Spilker’s Plymouth home on Monday June 20. After the business session the group discussed team construction and a luncheon was served by Mrs. Spilker. Edmund Wrigley reporter.

In a May incident near Cinq-Mars France General Robert H. Dunlap of the Te Corps and a local husband perished while rescuing a woman from collapsing caves. Rescue workers later recovered their bodies as villagers mourned the two gallant men and a monument was later raised at the scene. The destroyer Dunlap was named in his honor.
Israel Hunnicutt born September 6 18465 in new ville Ohio died June 16 1988 at his home in Steele City Nebraska at age 92 years 9 months 10 days He was the oldest of six children and the sole survivor of his family He moved to Canton Illinois as a child and married Sarah E Wheeler on June 23 1867 One daughter died young six children were born five survive He joined the Methodist church young and remained faithful Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Steele City with Rev Fillinger officiating Interment followed in Steele City cemetery
The Congre gational Sunday School men hosted an ice cream sociable last Saturday with help from women. After a nine o'clock band concert the Volunteer Fireman demanded the city hall for a dance, causing the ice cream group to pack up and relocate setting up at their home for ice cream and cake to syncopated tunes.
Saint Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dil celebrated the fifth anniversary of Rev. L J Wolff with a daylong program. Services in the forenoon and afternoon, a noon dinner with home made ice cream, and an afternoon program in the city park featured Rev W J Goemmel of Lanham as guest speaker. The event highlighted church growth, records, and the new Nursery Roll Department with 260 attendees present for the afternoon observance.
