A destructive hail storm struck the area south of Diller Thursday morning about six o clock. It damaged towns to the west and north, broke windows, stripped grain by about fifty percent, and caused heavy rain. Farmers fear the crop may fail after a promising yield outlook.

Sunday Evening Band Concert At Fairbury Park Auditorium
A one and a half hour band concert will be held Sunday evening June 20 at 4 p m in Fairbury city park auditorium. The program features the Fairbury Municipal band and the Beatrice High School band under Harold L Chatelain. The event invites nearby towns to join Sunday concerts all summer and encourages park use for picnics services and chorus performances directed by Prof Geo Aller of Crete. Improvements to the auditorium and park include a new stage acoustics fountains and a sunken rock garden. The chorus expects growth beyond the opening 65 singers.

Jefferson county pensioners who have drawn $2 monthly must file new applications for continued county pensions. Republican Valley Flood Reopens Worsening Nebraska Losses
The Republican river breached its banks in southwest Nebraska on Monday, causing more property damage and two deaths. Obituary of Allen A. Colman Pioneer Soldier of Diller
Allen A Colman born in Noble county Indiana in 1846 died at his home in Diller June 18 1936 age 89. He lived in Iowa Nebraska and Colorado participating in frontier life and the Civil War era with the first Colorado Cavalry. He married Nancy Swindle in 1878 and leaves a large family including sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services conducted at the Methodist church in Diller with burial in Weeping Water beside his wife.

Bandits Steal Car Sunday Night
An Oldsmobile coupe owned by Stanley Lea was stolen at about 11 30 p m Sunday night from the city park by two bandits who fled in a 1934 Chevrolet coach. The car was recovered Monday afternoon five miles west of Wymore. One bandit claimed to be Maurice Denning, suspected in other robberies.
