A brief note states the school census will occur between the 14th and 24th inst. Mrs. Jas A Pickard and her children visited relatives at Beatrice on Tuesday.
Alfred aequestlity to form his parents at St. Joe Mo where they now are living. Floyd Monasmith formerly of this place but now of Beatrice was operated on for appendicitis one day last week.
Miss Fern Raymond traveled Wednesday to Tecumseh to see her sister Mrs. Barber and spent time with friends in Syracuse Nebraska.
Allie Eick, a man from south of town, was first reported dragging the roads after Sunday's rain and was at it by Tuesday noon. A large platform near the east creek bridge gave way yesterday morning, causing sand to run down the dump.
A. D. Colman fell very ill Saturday evening and was cared for in his room by his Masonic brethren before being moved to his brother Asa Colman's home for further care.
W. S. Drullinger announces the opening of a feed barn connected with his breeding stable at A. J. Hutchinson's former stand in Diller creating a new agricultural facility for local farmers.
Captain Chelser Andrews, 76, arrived back Saturday from Boston where he spent the winter with a daughter. He is reported in good health and enjoying Decoration Day.
Two inches of rain fell in the Diller area last weekend, soaking into the ground in gentle showers. The downpour is described as one of the million dollar rains, and it is credited with aiding the wheat and oats crops.
Fragmentary report mentions Mr Pally Fran Gertrude Farther and Hanae formation. Names are unclear and details are incomplete.
J. E. Clark traveled to St. Joe on Wednesday with a car load of hogs. Harry Hudson formerly of Diller has purchased a restaurant at Odell.
Miss Adah Clark visited her brother F Clark and wife in Wy on Monday. A good second hand carriage and a second hand buggy are for sale at a bargain by J A Pickard and Co. Born Monday June 10 1912 to Mr and Mrs Rudolph Aeschie mann, 24 miles south of Harbine, a 104 pound boy.
Mrs. Harry King arrived home in Rockford Nebraska on Tuesday accompanied by her parents Mr and Mrs R L Oaks.
Mr and Mrs George Bailey with Mrs Geo Pickard and husband visited here and have now returned to their Beatrice home.
The state fair premium list is on file at this office for public viewing. The fair is scheduled for September 2 through September 6 this year.
Mr and Mrs Harvey Pittenger with son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs McAtee and relatives returned Tuesday to their home in Beatrice after a visit here.
The store at Shea changed ownership last week with A. O. Boggs of Gilead selling his interests to B. F. Roscoe of DeWitt. It is understood Mr. F. J. Hutson of Shea will continue to manage the business.
Dr. Henry of Omaha and Dr. Diehl were called in consultation on Miss Grace Cully. They decided on treatment to avoid an operation if possible.
80 acre farm two miles west and one mile from Diller with good fencing. 60 acres tillable, 12 acres alfalfa, 70 acres pasture. Includes a new 28 by 32 barn, Hew-mill, new well with plenty of water, new 16 by 32 hog house and corn.
Excavation for the city hall and water works basement began Monday, with most dirt to be removed by Saturday night. Two large 9 by 40 foot pressure tanks were installed last week as spectators watched. The building will measure 40 by 48 feet with a 10 foot basement clearance and a 14 foot upper story. Brick and tile will be used, a hip roof and 30 inch cornice planned, enclosing the tanks and machinery in the basement while hose carts stay on the upper story for city hall use.
W G Myers announces a new cash in advance subscriber this week. No small potatoes or nub bins expected this year. Mr and Mrs H E Grape return from Beatrice relations visit. Mrs Arthur Price returns from Omaha with sister Grace Nelson. John Steiner back from eastern state work as telephone lineman. Eva Witty returns from Y P S C E district convention in Fairbury. Kenneth and Henry Fouts travel from Lincoln to spend summer at home. Board of Education elects Prof Watt to supervise music for the ensuing school year in Diller Blue Springs and Wy more. Ed Woods ships two car loads of fat cattle to St Joe market. feeders overall profit despite high feed costs.
Notes from Sate Nebr describe the annual school meeting for the fourth Monday, with other items including Postmaster Hutchingon attending a Lincoln convention, Irene Hildebrand the nurse aiding Miss Grace Cally, corn progress and field work, medical tips for sprains and constipation, and Edgar Walburn visiting Diller on bakery business.
Mrs. W. E. Mudge called early Saturday to report discovering the breast pin she had advertised for last week in the Record and suggested paying to advertise for it.
H A Reeves begins a two week vacation at Louisburg Kansas his former home. E C Konieck of Pender Nebraska will fill Reeves job as bookkeeper at Diller State Bank during his absence.
The Record corrects last week by stating B F Blythe personally graded the half mile north of his farm and supplied the culvert. Other broad minded farm owners around Diller are urged to follow his example and fix their roads this spring.
Church notices announce routine services at St Paul’s Lutheran and the continuation of the summer school program beginning Monday June 17 at 9 am. The event is hosted by St Paul’s with emphasis on weekday sessions.
The usual Sabbath services are set for June 16 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sabbath school starts at 10 a.m. Endeavor meets at 7 p.m. Children’s Day exercises postponed to June 23. Woman’s Missionary Society to meet June 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the parsonage. all ladies invited.
Methodist church announces Sunday school at 10 o clock every Sunday and preaching each Sunday evening plus every other Sunday morning. Prayer meeting Thursday at 8 p m. Choir rehearsal Wednesday evening. No evening service at Diller due to Children's Day at Rock Creek. Regular services otherwise.
