Will Fox returned home to Superior last week after months in hospital for severe burns suffered while burning the Burlington right of way near Hardy last December. He is learning to walk again, gaining strength to cover about fifty feet at a time with rest periods.
The state Veterans of Foreign Wars convention was in session in Fairbury this week with a public parade on Monday featuring fourteen drum and bugle corps and several bands. The Fairbury corps earned a superior rating in the contest and retained the Nebraska championship.
Rex Green plans a group outing to Bayard Nebraska next week for the evening at The Gift of God. His sister Miss Bonnie Green, a local teacher, sings in one chorus. His daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Ernest Gorr of Bridgeport Nebraska also attend. The Gorrs are visiting in Diller this week.
Dale Reinhardt of Scottsbluff Nebraska visited town last Saturday with two fellow school board members while scouting for a new superintendent.
Superintendent L F Sinkey and wife and Coach Carl Ludington and wife have taken cabins at Epworth Lake Park near Lincoln for the summer. The men will attend classes at the University of Nebraska summer school.
Weather summary notes .82 inch of rainfall in the past week with .72 from Thursday to Friday and 9 Wednesday. Hail caused considerable damage south and east of Lanham last night, according to local observers.
Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Mayborn traveled to Lincoln last Thursday left their car, boarded a train to New York for the World’s Fair, planning to visit their son Alfred Mayborn and wife in Akron Ohio. Ira Casper’s sedan caught fire Tuesday on North Main Street, destroyed by flames after he discovered it. Rev Velte and daughter Margaret visited friends in Diller Monday, attended the Methodist district meeting at Fairbury, and continued home.
The Bremen Diller game at the local ball park ended with visitors scoring 23 to 5. Diller travels to Bremen Kansas next Sunday for the return game.
The old viaduct on L street at Fairbury is closed and will be wrecked. Traffic over the PWF and 3 S will detour east of the fair grounds to Fourth street.
Recreation Director asks all interested in tennis or croquet to bring a shovel or hoe for the court near the school house. Meeting set for tomorrow at eight in the morning.

Arthur Stahl of a farm south of Harbine suffered a severe facial cut when a horse kicked during currying. The curry comb struck his upper lip and injured his mouth. he was transported to Beatrice for medical dressing by a physician.
A good sized crowd gathered Wednesday evening to hear the Diller band in its first concert of the season on the street. Programs will be given each Wednesday evening through the summer.
Mr and Mrs Chas E Waggoner Mrs Nancy Robertson and Miss Selah Robertson traveled to Worthington Minnesota to attend the wedding of their niece and granddaughter Miss Ruth Habicht which took place Monday June 5.
In Diller this week three boys named Geer Jackie McLane and Laurice Moore are ill but reported to be getting along alright.
Miss Pearl Sparks wed Norman Frisbie in a small home ceremony with 58 guests on Sunday afternoon June 4. Rev L A Fisher officiated as Helen Frisbie sang I Love You Truly and candles and pink white decor highlighted the arch ceremony. The couple plans a honeymoon to Elba Colorado before settling two miles east of Diller.
Velma Wehling and Harold Cox united in marriage at St Michael's Catholic Church Fairbury Nebraska on June 1 9 am officiated by Rev Francis J O Brien. Attendants included Nelle Brychta Velma Campbell Maxine Patton and Lloyd Cox Dell Wehling with a three course wedding breakfast and reception to follow. Guests traveled from Kansas and Nebraska for the ceremony and celebration.
Miss Grayce Myers of Diller Nebraska and G F Cummins of Falls City were married at 6 o clock Saturday evening at the Presbyterian manse in Falls City by Rev Kenneth M Keeler. The couple, both longtime mathematics instructors at Falls City high school, plan to remain at home on 2309 Chase Street.
