Captain W Edwards, a San Diego ranchman, reaches Washington after guiding a team of Angora goats over more than 4000 miles. The item contrasts this feat with a man who drove 15 miles to pay ten dollars, noting a check could have been mailed for 2 cents and a receipt obtained.

A horse power hoist for lifting dirt from the new well at the water works pumping station arrived and was unloaded on Wednesday. Miss Eva Crocker, who taught in Endicott schools for a couple years, returned to Diller Monday and contemplates spending part of her vacation in Colorado.
The Racket advertises canned goods with special prices for single cans or by the dozen. Pineapple 20c raspberries 20c peas 13c corn 12c sweet potatoes 12c hominy 10c pumpkins 8c. Also notes blockaded alleys in Diller hinder driving until vehicles are moved.
Addie Miller and Eva Witty returned from Peru Nebro with diplomas from the State Normal school. Miller will teach in Lincoln city schools next year and Witty will teach in Hebron schools.
Frank Spear and daughter Elisa Beth of Topeka Kansas visited friends in Diller over Sunday and spent Decoration Day at Beatrice. Mr Spear formerly ran a drug business in Diller and has many friends who were glad to meet him again. He is getting along.

E. Clark sent one car of cattle and one of dogs to St. Joe market. D. R. Kelley cut alfalfa as an early hayer. Clayton Butterbaugh, former Diller boy, joined the U S Navy and heads to San Francisco.

Mrs A M Diller and her daughter Miss Effie Diller departed on the early Thursday train for a Colorado outing visiting friends in Denver and Boulder and other places.

Engineers and firemen on both trains were among the dead as cars left the tracks and escaping steam caused more casualties. Train No 13 was routed via Holdrege Curtis and Sterling.
Memorial services were held in the Presbyterian church with Pastor Wm Boyle delivering an able sermon. Attendees included the W R C marching to seats reserved for them and a large congregation from multiple churches. Decoration Day events at Prairie Home cemetery and a nearby bridge drew many, with flowers, songs, and eulogies for fallen soldiers. Rev Schadel spoke at the bridge. Other notes mention local visits, a bread banker in town, and bird bath advice.

J C Gretzinger announces purchase of John Pulec's Miller blacksmith shop lease and offers cooperative assistance. He promotes a general line of work and urges patronage with emphasis on sharpening two row discs and cultivators and guaranteeing satisfaction.
F W Steffen was injured when his team of colts and a mower struck by a passing auto caused a runaway near Chester Sparks and J E Clark farms. The wagon overturned breaking a bone in his right shoulder. his son Dr E E Steffen of Fairbury attended him and he improves as expected.
Cement curbs have recently been placed around several Prairie Home Cemetery lots by Dr. J. G. Neely Mrs. A. M. Diller Mrs. Christie Thompson the Clark lot Mrs. A. C. Diller the Frisbie lot and J. H. Carmichael.

The 06 close held a lantern lit vigil Friday night with six of ten class members present including La Forrest e Raymond Earl Pearce Grace Bell Elsie Tinetman Lottie Lpock and Golda Miller. The treasure was found mouldy but intact and a midnight lunch was served by lantern light to ward off spirits. Absent were Miss Patrice McElwee Miss Edith Bixby and Mr Joy Reinhart with regrets. Earl Pearce the only married member accompanied by his wife. The vigil was not reburied.

Mise Creda Wright of Beatrice passed through Diller last Thursday evening on her way to Denver to visit her brother Henry and wife. Two notes mention debts to Mart. Car Michael and a county board decision on a saloon license for Lanham an incorporated town.
Mrs Sarah Witty traveled by early Friday train to attend her daughter Eva Witty's graduation from the state normal school at the location, returning on Wednesday evening.
On Thursday afternoon the Presbyterian Ladies Coterie gathered at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eick. More than forty attendees enjoyed a social hour followed by refreshments served by Mrs. Eick and helpers.
