Farmers mentions the fifth year Fairbury chautauqua with a 2500 program in a new 5000 auditorium. Excursions from Diller to B and M lines scheduled Sundays August 15 and 22 with a strong program planned each day.
The Fairbury Chautauqua marks its fifth anniversary on August 13 1909 with the dedication of a new four thousand seat auditorium. The ten day program features lectures travelogues recitals humor and songs at Fairbury City Park with speakers and performers including Gov J Frank Hanly Senor Ramon Reyes Lala Gov Henry A Buchtel and others.
Frank Miller travels from Burlington to Hebron on Wednesday. Colman hotel offers cheap beddets springs and mattresses for sale. Eril Ballard paints a new sign at the meat market. A severe hail storm two weeks ago damaged southern Jewell Mitchell and Smith counties destroying crops and bird life, with multi-million losses, following a cyclone’s previous path.

Blauser ships a carload of hogs to St. Joe market. Mr and Mrs George Bailey visit Diller relatives from Beatrice. Mrs Harry Hudson visits from Odell. Miss Sarah Allen arrives from Peoria to see sister Mrs Folkers. Mrs Habicht and Max return from Spokane after the A Y S exposition. Excursion trains arranged for the 18th annual fraternal picnic at Diller on August 12.
The Pleasant precinct Republican primary held in Diller last Saturday elected delegates S. Hutchinson A. J. Hutchinson F. Hartzell J. Smith Diller H. Z. Diller W. E. Mudge Arthur E. Price W. C. Line O. J. Mayborn Herman Sexel W. A. Snyder Arthur Treick F. D. Carr Carl Brasch. First eight attended the county convention. J Smith Diller and H C Hutchinson of Diller were elected to the state convention but did not attend.
