The Republican central committee calls a county convention in Fairbury on Saturday July 22 1911 at 2 p m to elect delegates to the Lincoln state convention. Precincts in the first commissioner district assigned to Jefferson Ock Creek Pleasant Newton Endicott.
Miss Grace Nelson, visiting with her sister Mrs Arthur Price, returns to South Omaha to teach in city schools after winning a two months Europe trip with all expenses paid in the World Herald subscription contest. The Record reports 400 pounds of new 9- on 10 point Century Expanded type for the Simplex machine arriving from New Jersey, with an invitation to view the work at the office.
Fairbury Journal reports early chatter on Democratic and Republican slates for county offices. Sheriff contenders include Chris Hickey and Phil Graves with others possibly entering. Republicans list James Churnside and others for sheriff, plus nominees for register of deeds, superintendent, county judge, county clerk, and county commissioner.
Dr L A Bordner assistant state veterinarian from Wymore Nebraska joined Miss Renelda Fanders of Fairbury for a Sunday visit with her family in Diller Nebraska.

Mrs O J Mayborn welcomed eighteen ladies for a Wednesday afternoon gathering. After needlework and piano music, each guest received a club themed pencil and card. Groups competed in room contests with Mrs C W Tonnemaker winning honors and Mrs Martha Diller reading an article. A two course luncheon followed. Guests included Mrs Jackson of Lincoln, hostess's mother.
The community mourns the death of Mrs. Herman B. Fairchild aged 71 at her home near Endicott on July 4 1911. She was a longtime Christian church member in Diller and mother of four with husband Herman E. Fairchilds. The family moved from Hartagrove Ohio to Steele City and Diller before settling in their present home.
Sunday school at 10 and preaching at 1 in the church basement. Union services at the Presbyterian church at the hour. Epworth League at 7. Painters and carpenters near completion and the church should be ready by the 17th. Rock Creek church had a well attended service last Sunday with ongoing interior and exterior finishing and a planned dedication. Rev. E B Maxey notes new hymn books and improved music practice.
The Nebraska Association of Colleges awarded a scholarship to Miss Mary Edgington, recent graduate of Diller High School. Edgington ranked highest in her class and excelled each of the four years in high school.
On next Sabbath July 16 the morning sermon will treat The Third Commandment. A union service in the evening includes all churches in the Presbyterian Church. Sabbath School 10 A M Endeavor 7 30 P M.
