Bull snake found near Steiner farm killed by family

Frank Garton's family on Steiner eighty miles east of town reported a large five foot bull snake in their cellar. After the snake was killed a missing kitten was found in the nest and cut from the snake by Mr Garton with a jackknife revealing a lump in the snake's body.

Mrs Wright Plans Move to Emmet Idaho

Mrs Mary Wright, in poor health, will leave Diller to live with her grandson Lloyd Wright and family in Emmet Idaho. She has packed belongings and stored them in rooms, rented the balance of her house to Mr and Mrs Marvie Headley, and is staying temporarily with Mr and Mrs George Specht where friends may visit.

First Wheat Sold at Diller Exceeds in Price and Yield

Jake Lottman sold the first wheat at Diller this year. Delivered last Thursday to Black Bros. elevator the grain tested 50 pounds to the bushel and brought 51 cents. The yield ran about seventeen bushels per acre.

Taken trip to Hereford by Lincoln couple

Frank Frisbie of Lincoln and Mrs John Greider left Diller Sunday evening by auto for Hereford Texas expecting to drive all night. They are visiting Mr and Mrs Bert Frisbie and the latter's sister for a week.

County Recreation Picnic at Crystal Springs Held July 10

The county recreation picnic will be Sunday July 10 at Crystal Springs Fairbury with truck transport from Diller at noon. Costs 10c per person for transport and activities include kittenball supervised by county recreation leaders and swimming at 4 pm. Drowning of Odell Resident Louis J Sands at Riverside Park

Louis J Sands a lifelong Odell resident recently living in thice drowned in the Blue River at Riverside Park Beate about 1 30 A M on July 1st while with family. His wife said he fell in after a brief swim and was seized by a cramp. His body was recovered about two o clock by volunteers about 60 feet downstream from the last sighting. He leaves a widow and four children Bil lie Jamie Lou Jacqueline Ray and Robert. Funeral services were held at the Odell Methodist church with interment in Odell cemetery.

Death of Alonzo Specht After Illness at Harvest Home

Alonzo Specht died the evening of the Fourth after a half hour illness while working in the harvest at Wes Carmichael’s near Steele City. He collapsed from heart trouble and died about 7 30 pm. Funeral services were held today at the Congregational church in Diller at 2 pm with Rev. Pyche leading, burial in Diller cemetery. His wife, Mrs. Specht, passed away last November.
