Jefferson County Red Cross appeals for cash donations to aid flood victims in the Ohio and Mississippi valleys. Local chairman Mr Cavett will collect contributions at the Record Office and will not canvas door to door.
The annual meeting scheduled for yesterday afternoon was postponed one week to next Thursday February 4 1937 at 2 PM. The venue remains the city hall with Chas Waggoner as Secretary.
Herman Sasse and son Albert drove to Johnson Nebraska for the annual German Mutual Insurance Co meeting where Sasse serves as local agent. They then went to Auburn to visit his brother but found him absent. The trip noted clear highway conditions with no snow or ice.
Mr. C. C. Smith of Rock Creek precinct rents the Hutchinson building on North Main street and will open a harness and repair shop. The first part of the building will be used for the shop and the rest is being renovated for occupancy.
West Point sisters Ruth and the married Ruth Pyche arrived to spend the weekend with their ill father Reverend Pyche who has announced Sunday morning services.

Friends of Dr Isham at Fairbury receive word of his death from influenza at his Chicago home. He served as pastor in Fairbury 1892 94 Hastings 1894 96 Grace Lincoln 1896 98 and was district superintendent of the Beatrice District.

Arthur Vitosh of the EMMJ Bohemian orchestra placed an ad in the Daily Sun inviting his hip relatives and friends to Odeli on Friday. He has played with the Diller band for the past two years.
Mr. W. O. Wood and son Earl of Oklahoma visited friends including Mr. and Mrs. Saylors and the Cullys. They are now at Odell for a visit, with other acquaintances noted in the record.
Dan P. Fry died at his Philadelphia home January 3 1937 after a two week illness from a heart attack. Naval services were held January 7 with interment in Philadelphia. He left a wife a daughter and a son. A civil engineer with the War Department he had lived in the east and south since Diller school days. Surviving brothers Dr and Milt of near North Platte and Quinter Fry of the region. He graduated from Diller school in 1898 and taught near town before moving south in 1899 never returning to live in Diller.
B E Miller Byrd 31 editor of the Odell Oracle died in a Kansas City hospital last Friday night after about a week of influenza. The immediate cause was an ear infection followed by pneumonia. Burial was at Marysville Kansas, his old hometown. He purchased the Odell Oracle about a year ago and had been teaching previously. He was energetic and helped organize a commercial club and local civic activities.
Wm. Freitag of Harbine formerly living near Diller died at his home Monday morning at four. He had been in failing health for years. Funeral services were held Thursday at the home and at Hope Reform church. Waggoner Bros conducted the services. A fuller obituary will appear next week.
The funeral for infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hinsley was held at Waggoner Bros Funeral Home last Saturday afternoon with Rev. Wolff of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was at Prairie Home Cemetery. The child died in Odell on Friday January 1937 at age two days.
The Resettlement Administration extends eligibility for livestock feed loans from 12 to 18 animal units. Cal A Ward Regional Director announced the extension today. Instructions to county workers detailing the rule changes are being issued and the changes take immediate effect.
WPA workers recount a dynamite blast at Rock Creek Hill Friday that sent debris through the shingle roof of War Dick's barn about 800 feet away and cracked plaster and foundation walls in Billy Dick's residence.

Hannah Elizabeth Ellis born in Germany in October 1877 died January 24 1937 aged 59 years 3 months 8 days She came to America at age 3 and lived near Diller most of her life She leaves a husband Joseph five children four brothers two sisters and many friends Interment at Diller Cemetery Fisher officiating Waggoner Brothers served at the funeral mourning the pioneer life and neighborly kindness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ellis church for Anna B. Fielder age 40 who died after a brief illness while visiting her brother in DeWitt. Rev. Per officiated. Burial followed at Diller Cemetery.
