Davis Daily Abstract Ends After 53 Years in Davis
The Davis Daily Abstract published filings from the courthouse for 53 years until last Friday. Started 53 years ago by Misses Millie and Anna Price, later run by J Monroe Davis and his son Russel A. Davis for about five decades. It logged real estate transfers mortgages foreclosures chattel mortgages court filings and marriage licenses, valued by local businessmen. A nearby Credit Bureau bulletin reduced demand, leading to the decision to cease publication in Fairbury.

Diller Women’s Club Notes Meeting At Mrs Huttenmeyer Home
Diller Women’s Club met at Mrs John Huttenmeyer’s home on Wednesday afternoon January 15 with missing president Mrs Clarence Hiatt and vice president Mrs Glenn Long presiding. The program led by Mrs Long covered What Our Town Needs with speakers Ludington on New Trends In Education and Miller on PTA Needs of Our Town. Marilyn Miller provided special music In The Gloaming and Moonlight and Roses on bells. Fifteen members answered roll call with current events. Refreshments were served. Next meeting February 5 at Mrs Grace Fasnacht’s home led by Mrs R Hubka on Patriot’s Day with current events.
