Mrs Frances Starkey longtime resident died January 7 1936 after a fall caused hip injury. She died at Port Collins Hospital and was buried beside her husband WiC Starkey at Prairie Home. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev Proett officiating.

Road improvements spread cinders to stock yard area

A new coat of cinders is being spread on the road from Main Street to the stock yards south of the railroad. Local firms including Diller Elevator, A. O. Cooper, Standard Oil, and Burlington Railroad back the project with labor and materials. Two car loads arrived last Saturday with two more expected. Joseph H. Scheve announced the Beatrice Production Credit Association annual meeting for Friday January 17 at 10:30 am in the Beatrice YMCA. Directors present include J. C. Pelham, S. C. Keister, Geo. M. Miller, Henry Brett and Scheve. The association serves seven counties Thayer, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson.
