Prof Zwickey appears at Loock's Opera House Friday evening January 15. Admission is 25 and 35 cents with reserved seats 50 cents. Tickets available at Sparks and Folkers' store.
In 1904 the Degree of Honor of Nebraska wrote insurance totaling 1 465 500 dollars for its members and did not pay any money for deputy work. The note contrasts the large policy total with zero payout for deputy duties.
Harry Strokey sawed enough wood this forenoon for D R Kelley to make about 25 ricks of stove wood and the Squire now has the job of splitting it, which will keep him out of mischief for a while.
Mrs Christie Thompson and Mrs Annie Diller returned Sunday night from visiting relatives at Pittsburg Kansas. They were accompanied by Mrs Agnes Diller as far as canvas City where they spent a couple of days with Mr and Mrs Will Clark.

Frank Thomas and his railroad graders finished a 500 foot long 22 foot deep ditch to redirect Indian Creek through John Henrichs pasture west of town for B and M road protection. They loaded their gear into three box cars and left Tuesday for Nebraska City for winter. Locals note the crew as the finest workers seen by area merchants during their six week excavation, with frequent visits to Diller for trading.

The G A R Post and Relief Corps held their annual dinner at the Masonic hall last Saturday. After a fine repast veterans shared war memories then the Relief Corps elected officers for the coming year and installed the Post officers. Color Bearers and officers were listed, with Mrs Sutton and Mrs Nelson named among them.

The Diller esate ten Co offers a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who shut off insulators on lines 85 and 36 at farms near Frisbie and Eicks on December 29, 1908. Modern Woodmen and Royal Neighbors mark the 21st anniversary with a joint officer installation and social night attended by about 200 people.

Wm. Thomas of Howe Nebraska died while returning from Diller to Odell after visiting his wife's Martins. A sister-in-law accompanying him drove for medical help but he died before reaching town. An inquest was held to determine the cause. Thomas belonged to the A. O. U. W. and the Holdrege lodge.
On Wednesday January 6 1904 at the Patton residence in Burr Nebraska the marriage of Cassie Mae Patton to August Herman Beckman was solemnized by Rev Frank Mills. The ceremony was followed by a supper and a display of gifts while relatives and friends from Burr and area attended.
Stockholders met in Diller to organize the new bank appointing A. Mayborn as president Jas T Bell as vice president and O J Mayborn as cashier with W N Sparks and J W Fouts as directors The bank aims to open in six to eight weeks and will be led by a capable board including C A Gale John Timm and B L Fillingham. W E Williams resigns as secretary of the Beatrice State Savings and Loan Association in favor of O J Wilcox who will oversee office work. K Leonard of Lincoln will supervise agents. Williams will stay in Beatrice but move to Alabama for fraternal insurance work.
In Kentucky Mrs Wm Robbin of Harlan county has a long marriage history. She became Miss Martin, then wed Mr Crow, who died, then married Mr Robbin and separated. Her last match was with Dave Buzzard leaving at home a Martin two Crows a Robbin and a Buzzard.
