Mr and Mrs F D Darr held a reception at their new home south of Diller on the 24th ult at 1 oclock to honor their son Charles TE Darr and his bride. Only relatives and close friends were invited. The dinner was described as one of the most elegant the writers have enjoyed.
Sparks and Folkers, generic merchants, extend a New Year greeting to their patrons and married ladies inviting them to visit the store next Tuesday January 5th to receive a useful souvenir. The firm notes a large stock, close figures, and courteous treatment as keys to building a handsome trade in Diller.

Auctioneer Joe Wright. Sale begins at 1 o clock with free dinner at noon.
A Burlington Iowa fireman describes a near death experience from illness and fatigue. After using Electric Bitters he regained health and vigor. The testimonial asserts renewed strength and well being with guaranteed satisfaction through J. W. Sutton.
Riddle and Carrie Adams wed at 8 p m December 23 1903 with Rev Frank Mills officiating. The bride wore white wool and satin and a lavish supper followed. Attending were Mr and Mrs Win Riddle and families Mr and Mrs Geo Riddle and families Mrs Mills and others including Miss Bessie Bell and Mrs Adams daughter and family from Indian Territory. We extend our best wishes for a long prosperous marriage.
An epidemic of pneumonia rages in Chicago. The text notes a typhoid fever outbreak tied to water pollution in Butler with a population of 18 000, reporting 1 270 cases and 6 deaths. A. G. Keys of Topeka arrives to visit Diller relatives.

A family gathering at a parent’s home in this city featured Mr and Mrs Alex Ballard and families from Puttsmouth and Hardye. Attendees included Bert Ballard and Les Jie Mel Jay from Fairbury, Ida McElwee and others. about sixteen people shared a fine dinner with piano and mandolin music. The item also notes a local coin joke from 1904 about silver dollars and a fake claim related to the World’s Fair trip.

The couple will reside on the Darr farm south of Diller after a furnished home reception.

Edward Hill and Vernon Dowling were married at J. W. Fouts residence on December 24 1903 at 10 am with Rev Frank Mills officiating. The bride wore brown trimmed in white. guests included many local families and officials. A formal supper followed and guests offered well wishes for the couple.
