One Story Farm Home Burns near Tecumseh

A fire at 4 AM destroyed a frame dwelling four miles northwest of Tecumseh occupied by J. W. Morris and all contents. Morris saved his wife and five children by tossing them from a window to the barn as neighbors helped. The family, renters, lost everything with no known insurance.

Sold After Fifty Years. Mrs. R. A. Cottle Sells Farm

Mrs. R. A. Cottle sold eighty acres near Colon in Saunders County to Charles Davis for 9000 dollars. Cottle had acquired the land by preemption as Rebecca Keeler, who came to Saunders County in 1867, and fifty years ago was a young woman about twenty. The transfer includes a two thousand dollar automobile, and Cottle came west in a prairie schooner drawn by an ox team.
