Diller Telephone Seeks Higher Rates For Business Lines

The Diller Telephone Company applies to the State Railway Commission for new rates boosting business phone rentals by 50 cents monthly and other lines by 25 cents. A hearing is scheduled March 1 at 10 a.m. at the commission office in Lincoln for involved parties.

School Notes Highlight New Primary and Sixth Grade Entrants

Avone Powell notes new beginners in the first primary and two in the sixth grade, with Alice and Gertrude Specht among them. Arnold Fouts filled in for Miss Clark in the intermediate room, Allen Folkers absent two days, and Harold Bowers and Pearl Diller were out sick or visiting family. Sixth grade studies cotton growth and writes on the topic.

Diller Friends Hear Of Blythe Buchanan Nuptials In Admire

Announcement cards report the marriage of Verne Blythe to Lulu Eva Buchanan on the 14th in Admire Kansas with a home to be established after March 20th. F C Simmons of Seward will address the AOUW lodge in Diller this Saturday inviting members and suspensions to attend and hear rates discussed. Neighbors Ray and Mrs Hudson hosted a surprise party as they move from Blauser land to Henry Watson's farm southeast of town with about fifty seven attendees enjoying games music and refreshments.

J. W. Fouts Closes Land Sales This Week

J W Fouts remains active in closed land deals this week with Armsted selling 160 acres to E M Foreman for 16000 and A F Lutz selling 117 acres to Wm R Bebhrends for 11700. These figures add to prior sales reported since January 1 and show earnings around 10000 from January to February 21 based on 9.009 per day.

Diller High Students Hear Talks and Beat Hanover

Diller high school hosted talks by Rev Carmony and Rev Sual Wan on Monday and Wednesday. Hanover boys and girls lost to Diller on their home floor, girls 13 8 and boys 24 12. The boys prep for the state tournament at Lincoln March 7 8 9 10 with entries sent and class not yet chosen. Mr and Mrs R L Oaks returned from a southern trip visiting Beatrice with King family in Beatrice.

Methodist Church Services and Meetings

Church notices report good attendance and interest at the Methodist meetings. Rev. Sullivan preaches Sunday morning and evening with Sunday school and Epworth League at the usual hour. Evening services at 7 45. Prayer meeting Wednesday at 7 30. Supt Gilbert to preach and hold quarterly conference at Rock Creek church next Monday at 8 o'clock.
