Nebraska graduate named head dietitian at Rogers Park Hospital

Mildred Tucker returned to Chicago to take the duties as head dietitians at Rogers Park Hospital. She studied Foods and Nutrition at the University of Nebraska and completed a six month dietetic internship in Chicago. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

Sheriff John H Woddell Dies in Office Vacancy Looms

The sudden death of Sheriff John H Woddell last week in Fairbury leaves a county office vacancy to be filled by the county commissioners at a special session scheduled for tomorrow in Fairbury. Woddell was elected in November and took office January 1. He is survived by his widow and one daughter.

Diller Road Bill Prospects With Lincoln Committee

Dr S B Viers H K Shutt Mayborn and S C Moser of Diller Commercial Club join County Commissioner in Lincoln to discuss highway bills including a Diller link through Nos 3 and 68. Several bills to be reviewed next week with state engineer to craft a general highway plan. Prospects for routing the Diller road appear favorable. Also notes on local travel and events.

Couple Attends Lincoln Dinner Marking McCormick Reaper Invention

Mr and Mrs C R Steffen traveled to Lincoln Tuesday evening for a dinner hosted by International Harvester at the Cornhusker Hotel. The event commemorated the One Hundred Anniversary of Cyrus Hall McCormick’s invention of the reaper.

Dr and Mrs Claude Ellis visited Sunday with Rev Velte former pastor of the Diller M E church and daughter Marguerite at their Auburn Nebraska home. They found them well and pleasantly situated Velte pastors a large Methodist congregation with a fine church building and parsonage. They sent regards to Diller friends.

Diller Seeks Activity Building for School Use

The Diller School Board plans to build an activities building on unused grounds to provide a local venue for student events. It argues savings over years could cover most costs and keep students from attending other schools while attracting new county pupils and tuition revenue.

A letter urges building a multipurpose hall for Diller High School to host plays operettas basketball games volleyball events class parties and banquets. The project would unite youths from nearby areas and benefit all ages though funding concerns are noted with planned tax measures and school savings.

Harold Hutchinson advances to secretary and VP roles

Mr and Mrs S C Hutchinson announce their son Harold has been promoted from Assistant Secretary to Secretary of the American Reserve Life Insurance Company in Omaha Nebraska. He was also elected vice president of the Omaha Finance Company while continuing duties with the life insurer.

Valentine Party at Freitag Home Sparks Friendly contest

The Freitag country home hosted a Valentine gathering on Feb. 18 with neighbors playing Rock and Prevalentines ecersa. Mrs Greider won a heart shaped sweets box while Mrs Willis Clark received a heart shaped cookie cutter. Special guests included the Greiders Carl Freitag Roelfs and Behrends. The next meeting is set for Feb. 28 with Willis Clark.

Cedar Class of the Con ee church entertained Wednesday evening February 1 with games led by Miss Gretchen Wohlfarth and her mother.
