A letter from Cully of Iaboma discusses aging, family status with six sons and two daughters all living, and his wife aged 68 last Sunday. He notes his own upcoming 75th birthday on September 9 and mentions fair local wheat, worse conditions in the north and west, and a mild winter with a few days reaching four below seven.
An auto driven by Charles H. Spiker of Fremont and his brother Thomas E. Spiker of Holmesville was struck by Burlington train No. 90 three miles south of Beatrice Monday evening. The brothers, believed to be visiting, failed to see the oncoming train as they slowly crossed the track, nearly clearing it before the cowcatcher clipped the rear bumper.
Miss Fannie Diller slipped on linoleum in her room cracking a bone in the foot of her crippled limb. She is recovering at Mrs. Vernon Hill's home where Mrs. J. Greider assists. Friends question how the accident occurred after a winter of mobility.
Joseph Novotny contributed $2 as the latest donor in a flood relief drive begun last Friday. The cumulative contributions total $144 338 from the community, including a $26 gift from a church congregation and $123.33 previously noted.
Mr and Mrs Lyon Waggoner arrived Wednesday evening at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Chas Waggoner one stop on their honeymoon itinerary. They will stay in Diller over the weekend.

Wm. Dick of Rock Creek, presiding precinct, visited this office yesterday to report damage from dynamite blasting by workers on Rock Creek hut. Billy says the blasting harmed his residence and caused considerable damage.
The Elm Township wolf hunt will start at 1 30 PM Sunday from the four township points. Hunters plan to rove the area east of Frank Grone’r to corral any wolves in the vicinity.

A county high school declamatory contest will be held in Steele City on Tuesday March 2 featuring three divisions humorous, dramatic and oratorical. Diller High announces entrants.
Waggoner Funeral Home conducted the services for a local resident with the funeral held Friday and the burial or final rites planned for Monday.

Mrs Hubert Filley is staying with her parents in Wymore after an appendicitis attack. She left Odell Hospital last Friday.

Wiemers Bros will construct a brick and tile two story building on Chase Street south of Bryan Morris Shhoenheit lots to house their implement business. The front will measure about 60 feet by 30 feet with a 50 by 40 foot rear section for additional Deere line displays. Work has been awarded and construction will begin when weather permits.
Unas Waggoner and Mrs Robertson returned from Worthington Minnesota where they attended a wedding. A snow drift collision occurred in a deep cut when a truck veered into their touring car. The left front fender and bumper were smashed and Mrs Waggoner was thrown into the windshield, hitting and splintering the glass. Her hat saved her from injury. Both considered it lucky.
Eighteen young men aged 17 to 25 were enlisted at the Navy Recruiting Station in Omaha on Friday February 12. They hailed from various parts of Nebraska. On Tuesday another eighteen will be enlisted to meet the February quota of 36 for the Omaha District. Training will be at the Naval Training Station in San Diego California.
The Plymouth Nee announced C. W. McBratney of Fairbury will direct the Plymouth band next season. McBratney also serves as director of the Western and Swanton bands.
Steele City residents staged another of their famous mock trials during the annual Father and Son banquet held in the parlor rooms of the Presbyterian church.

The Diller community mourns Phyllis Patton Williams born August 20 1908 in Sir Nebr. She trained as a nurse in Beatrice and Chicago and worked in Beatrice Diller Odell and Lincoln. She married James Williams February 17 1936 in Lincoln and died February 9 1936 in Caldwell Idaho after childbirth complications. funeral arrangements note her Christian character and service to the sick, with burial beside infant son James Michael Williams.
Out. Bethel Way Lucile Barnett came home from Waverly Sunday by way of the Burlington to help with the work at home since her mother is having a siege with the flu. Gerd Henrichs Sr celebrated his sixty fourth birth Sunday with dinner for his children. The Henrichs boys hauled some wheat Wednesday. Margaret and Catherine Barnett spent Wednesday evening at Alice Henrichs for her twelfth birthday. Velma Webbling visited Lucile Barnett Wednesday evening. Mrs. Fred DeBoer underwent an operation at Odell hospital recently.
