A sturdy uniformed aviation radio man from Jacksonville arrives in Diller to visit his mother and sister after training at the Naval Air Station. Fred Miller, A R M 3, is assigned to a patrol bomber squadron and will be stationed at OTU Jacksonville.
Doyle Weaver, a sailor in the sea blue uniform, visited his parents near Diller after serving in Africa during President Roosevelt’s era. He hopes to rise from storekeeper third class to second class and notes two months or more for mail due to Navy duty.
Ditter High Selo is listed among four seeded teams in the Ci ee B district basketball tourney at Wymore next week. Other seeds are Odell Wymore and DeWitt. Opening games set for Feb 24 include DeWitt vs Virginia Filley vs Odell Barnston vs Diller and Wymore vs Liberty. Semifinals Feb 25 and final Feb 26 with 20 and 30 cent admission due to rubber shortage.

Lawrence Richardson swallowed a thumb tack about two weeks ago. Doctors located it in the alimentary canal and later removed it. He has been okay since and is being watched by his parents Mr and Mrs Leonard Richardson.
Aviation Cadet G. J. Gerreb reports transfer to a primary flying program at Thunderbird Field. His records will be sent to Thunderbird Field No. 1 in Phoenix Arizona. Glenn Long resigns as meat cutter and moves to Beatrice to work in Dempeter's defense plant.
Registration for War Ration Book Two runs February 22 to February 27. Shoes use Ration Book No 1 stamp 17 for one pair through June 16. Sugar Number 11 coupons from Book 1 cover 3 pounds until March 16. Coffee No 26 coupons from Book 1 cover one pound from February 8 to March 21. Gasoline No 4 coupons Book 1 cover four valid until March 31 with holders by February 28.
