World Day Of Prayer Observance Set For Feb 24

The United Council of Church Women schedules World Day of Prayer on February 24 at 7 30 p m in the Lutheran Church at Ditler The service features participation from Methodist Congregational Hope Reformed and Ellie Methodist churches The public is invited Also noted are local church activities including a Woman's Association meeting of the Congregational church on February 3 and the next meeting planned for March 3 at Mrs A Eick's home with the Women s Gift dedication and devotional led by Mrs Scott Miller Thirty two members attended the February 3 gathering with refreshments provided by the hostess and helpers

Beatrice Community Club Plans February Meeting and Square Dance

The Diiler Community Club hosts a social gathering at Beatrice High School gym with a Lions Club Chorus program and square dancing by Weers Bos. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. Members discuss a square dance instructor from the University of Nebraska and a March farm program.

Nurses Class of Thirty-Eight Capped at Lincoln Ceremony

Mrs Harvey Garrels and Vivian Geer attended the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing ceremony. Miss Faye Garrels was among thirty-eight graduates in a Trinity Methodist church service followed by a reception at the Purses home. Shirley Garrels of Blair and Phyllis Bourck of Omaha also traveled for the event.

Obituary for Abbie Bell Oaks in Diller community

Abbie Bell Oaks born April 24 1867 in Owen Illinois died January 29 1950 at home 5 miles west of Diller at age 82 years 9 months 5 days. Survived by Alfred Oaks and wife Diller daughter Lillie Meyers Boise and Steele City relative Alfred and Mrs Meyers, one sister Mrs Almeda Fisting Murray four grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral services held February 2 at Diller Congregational Church with Robert Pullen officiating. Interment Prairie Home Cemetery Diller. Waggoner’s Funeral Home in charge.

Odell Area Resident George Sible Dies at 74

George Sible 74 died at his farm home northwest of Odell Saturday afternoon after a brief illness. He was a long time Odell resident. Surviving wife Christina and a daughter who died in 1945. Funeral services were held Tuesday with Vance Funeral Home in charge.
