A doctor explains a minor eyelid surgery to correct a lash-induced eye scratch. The lower lid was trimmed and closed with seven stitches, aided by an adhesive strip to support healing. The operation is described as a success and the patient survives.
Miss Grace Myers from Falls City visited from Friday to Sunday. Jonu Carico accompanied her as Mr. and Mrs. Carico assist in caring for their ill daughter, Mrs. F. Dietrick, in Falls City.
Hubert Filley is re-elected Stamford Nebraska public schools superintendent with a $100 raise. This marks his second term and his fourth year in the role.
Mr and Mrs Filley went for an automobile ride last Sunday to Swanton and Bruning. They traveled north by west and noted that Mr Filley had once served as Burling ton agent.
Mr. M Calander came down town on his own power last Friday forenoon for a shave and haircut and an argument with anyone who dared. Calander does not get around quite so spry as in former days.
Herman Schoen reported his Ford Sedan burned last Sunday forenoon while en route from his home four miles west of town toward Jim Novotny's. The fire started in the draw south of Earl Riddle's property.
Miss Rachel Viers stayed from Saturday evening to Sunday evening with her parents Dr and Mrs Serenus Viers and brother in their home.
Rev. and Mrs. David Tudor of Aurora and Mr. and Mrs. Joung Meyer of Cortland Nebraska were guests at the Rev Pyche home on Tuesday.
Gretchen Fanders has been elected again to teach at School No 118 in the Hays district. This will be her fourth year in the district.
Clyde Thaber, hospitalized in Beatrice for pneumonia, shows signs of improvement according to hospital reports. The update notes he is responding to treatment and is in better condition.

The Friendship Class of the Methodist Church invites all to a radio party Friday February 10 at 7 30 PM. Hear and see popular radio stars and enjoy ice cream and cake for 10 cents per serving.
Mr and Mrs Ace Richardson announce a public sale on Tuesday February 21 at their home three miles east of town. The sale is due to Mr Richardsons health. Bills are out and an advertisement with complete list of articles to be sold will appear in the Record next week. Schultis Searing auctioneers.
The Keystone class of the Congregational church will hold an all day doughnut sale on Saturday February 11. Fresh doughnuts will be available at the Annex or Wagwyoner Bros. store for 20 cents.
Dr. S. B. Viers works this week to dismantle a barn built years ago by Harry Green with common nails. He intends to relocate the garage from the Loock residence onto the barn plot.
Roy Patton, with Dr Diehl, traveled to Lincoln last Friday. He says his brother Harry is recovering well from his recent operation and isn’t far from returning home.

A three year old girl in Tulsa Oklahoma was eating breakfast when a nitroglycerin magazine exploded a mile away. A stove fragment crashed through the wall and grazed her head, splintering the bowl as she cried for her mother.
Fairbury Journal reports county commissioners will bar direct relief recipients from driving cars unless they receive a special permit from Mrs. McHale. Recipients must deposit license plates with Mrs. McHale to ensure closer enforcement and review of relief recipients.
The January State Apportionment for Jefferson County totals 4719.10 dollars. From school lands the amount is split among districts with land. One fourth of the remainder is divided equally among eligible districts. The remaining three fourths is prorated by the number of school age children in those districts.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Euken of Dent Minnesota with Misses Anon and Emma Euken of Alexandria Minnesota visited their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Timm. They were taken to Kansas City Missouri on a Wednesday to visit a sister of the Eukens and returned to Diller that evening.
Francis Clark and his son Lawrence traveled from Omaha to Diller on Saturday and stayed to visit friends. Francis paid for a yearly subscription to ensure he did not miss local news and the ongoing story. Miss Elsie Franzen of Steele City returned to Omaha with them on Sunday.
