Krith Anderson, son of Mr and Mrs Ira Anderson, fell on a pitchfork while sliding down a haystack at his Diller home. He was taken to Steeie City Hospital, treated for a leg wound, and reported recovering enough to return to school Thursday.
Gilbert DeBoer oldest son of Mr and Mrs Emil DeBoer had an appendectomy Saturday morning at Odell Hospital. He is getting along fine.

Senator J. Conklin reports the legislature nears final readings with 348 bills filed, about 50 fewer than two years ago. Revenue Committee heatedly considered LB 97 to repeal the Municipal Budget law, opposed by many towns in the district. LB 49 from Fairbury would allow rural lines up to 25 miles from town, but faced unexpected opposition and was sent for rehearing. Beatrice Home for the Feeble Minded reports 1,500 patients with a waiting list over 80. Citizens urged study of SB 157 regulating automobile dealers and garagemen. county officials hold copies of filed bills.
Sunday afternoon February 4th Carole Casper hosted ten girls for her ninth birthday party. The group played bingo and games then enjoyed fruit salad cocos and cake. Guests included Devoa Garreis June Thompson Jonita Fletcher Beth el Lee Baumfalk Carole Jean Geer Beverly Carpenter Sandra Lauder Phyliss Casper and Harriet and Janet Wathor.
Lewis Mason and his wife Bonice with daughter Mrs Irene Mason visited Friday at Arthur and Mrs Timm home in Fairbury. Mason was on a 10 day leave after boot training at Great Lakes. Dr Ellis was brought home from Odell hospital Wednesday and is slowly improving.
Mrs D V Fanders began duties as postmaster at the Dill 1 office with Mrs Ina Hill named as assistant. The changes mark a new leadership in the small rural post station.
Mr and Mrs August Scheele celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary with a Sunday luncheon at 7 pm. Attendees included Captain Melvin Scheele Rev Swartz and family Miss Carol Chancellor of Fairbury Mr and Mrs Martin Scheele and family Mrs Wm Lampe Robert and Sharon of Washington Kansas Mr and Mrs P A Duis Mr and Mrs Fred Scheele Mr and Mrs Walter Bartels and family Steele City Mr and Mrs Henry Scheele and family Mr and Mrs Henry Weilers and family Mr and Mrs William Schierkels and family near Diller plus Q O Smiths who could not attend. They received many gifts and the event was held early so their son Capt Melvin Scheele could be home on furlough. The anniversary date is February 16th Rev Swartz gave a talk and prayer and the group sang.
A personal poem from Rev Pyche of West Point Nebraska to W A Saycer recalls visits, rebuilding a heart during war. It reflects home scenes of Diller memories, garden work, a wicker chair, sunset, church gatherings, and a tranquil fireside image as night falls.
Diller High School reports 2196 dollars raised for the March of Dimes after near complete participation. The school adds new chorus groups and lists solo and reading participants while noting upcoming basketball tournament dates and contests.
Pfe Arnold QC reports that Lottman is nearly back to normal after five days lost in the Leyte mountains. He longs to return to his outfit and his mail. He recalls that good Japanese soldiers were scarce enough to shoot one on crutches recently. He anticipates a rest period soon.
Marilyn Miller a freshman at Doane College Crete Nebraska was pledged to Doane Players membership. She and six others were chosen as pledges after formal tryouts. Marilyn was active in dramatics in high school winning the county best actress award last year. Mr and Mrs Jack Armstrong Dale and Bernard were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Lorren Stephens and family.
Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Henrichs Jr. and family included Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Henrich Sr. Carl Clarence and Alice, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Saathoff and three sons, Mrs. Marie Schmidt and two children, and Henry Henrich. The occasion was the birthdays of Mrs. Saathoff and Mrs. Gerd Henrich Jr.
