Methodist Church Holds Missionary Program and Pageant

Mrs L M Cavett invites members to Sunday School at 10 A M and a larger attendance next Sunday for the regular missionary program led by new superintendent Mrs Barnett. Gen chapters 17 18 19 to read for the questionnaire and an Epworth League pageant in five acts will be presented in the evening. Everyone is welcome and a full house is hoped for.

First Lincoln Sightseeing Trip By District 74 Class

A teacher from Dist. 74 escorted four agricultural students on a Saturday trip to Lincoln. They visited the Capitol, Museum, State Farm, Antelope Park, Rock Garden, and Whittier Junior High School. The trip left the children with fond memories of Lincoln’s sights.

Bullsnake in Journal Office Causes Brief Panic

Ed Weerts, connected with Blue Valley Credit, brought a four foot bullsnake to the Fairbury Journal office after running over it on the road between Fairbury and Endicott. He claimed the snake was dead to reassure staff as St. Patrick's Day looms, but the incident caused momentary alarm among desk workers.

The Epworth League of the M E church at Odell will present a missionary play titled Standing Room at the M E church in Dilihe on Sunday evening February 5, 1983 at 8 p m. There is no charge but a will offering will be received.

Mrs. S. M. Hughes returned home Saturday from Hebron where she stayed several weeks with her daughter Mrs. Cleve Hiatt and family. She enjoyed a visit with her son from Denver and spent a short time with another son.

Portland memorial recalls Fairbury pastor the marrying parson

The founder of a church 62 years ago and 21 years pastor of the First Baptist church of Fairbury died January 11 in Portland Oregon. He was highly regarded and his services were in demand for weddings and funerals earning the nickname the marrying parson. Rev Noble officiated the editor’s wedding in 1879.

Mystery Play The Crimson Hand Delights Local Crowd

Diphtheria scare kept many away but Wednesday night attendance was strong. The show was brimming with mirth and comedy and well received by the crowd. Mr. Collier announced next Wednesday’s performance will be unlike prior offerings a mystery play titled The Crimson Hand.

Unwanted Guests Invade Lincoln Home After Church

Mr and Mrs Willis Clark and Carolynn Rose returned from church to find their Lincoln home occupied by Mr and Mrs H Z Diller and Mr and Mrs Jess Brandt. The visitors helped themselves to pantry staples and city delicacies, preparing a dinner that pleased both families despite the intrusion.

The Diller Nebraska village board met in regular session at the creel Bros. store with Clauson Andrews Snyder Anderson and Green present. Minutes were read and approved. bills including Diller Telephone Co. tolls and various salaries were approved. adjournment followed. next meeting set for February 8. The program featured Miss Broyles on foods and vitamin topics with talks by Mrs Andrews and Mrs Fanders. refreshments were served.

Women’s Club meeting held at Mrs Vernon Hill home

The Women’s Club met Wednesday evening January 25 at the home of Mrs. Vernon Hill. With president Mrs Carrico absent, vice president Mrs Cloyd Cully led the session. Miss Hansen led a community singing with Mrs Schiedler at the piano. Members answered Roll Call by sharing favorite One Dish Meals recipes. Small note books were distributed by Mrs Fanders and Miss Broyles for members to use.
