Boys and Girls County Project Aims at Lincoln Pattern
The American Legion and Auxiliary sponsor a boys and girls county project in 32 Nebraska counties including Jefferson. In 1949 high school juniors will elect candidates to attend and work with county officials for one day to learn county governance. State Supreme Court Justice Messmore will address the group at a January luncheon as weather notes report heavy snow and later thaw.

Diller Telephone Rates Approved By State Commission
The state railway commission approves higher charges for Diller Telephone Company. Individual business rates rise to 275 a month, party business and residence to 42.75, and earn from 2 to 2.25 on a gross basis. The system has 443 main stations with 333 in rural areas and is projected to boost revenues by about 1 707 yearly with a net return near 1 880. Odell Couple Killed In Truck Train Wreck
Mr and Mrs John C Masek living northwest of Odell died in a truck train collision at Odell main street crossing. Mrs Masek 56 killed instantly, Mr Masek 63 died later at Odell hospital. The crash occurred after 3 pm when eastbound freight No 64 passed through Odell. Speed about 40 mph. Mrs Masek sister of Mrs R E Hubka of Diller.

St Pauls Luther League Christmas Caroling and Party
Members and visitors of St Pauls Luther League joined caroling on the evening of December 19 and then held the annual Christmas party at the Dunber home.
