Daykin Hosts Jefferson County Legion and Auxiliary Units

Jefferson County American Legion posts and Auxiliary units gathered in Daykin on December 16 to hear talks from State adjutant R C Patterson and Hospital Director Genie McGlasson. Officers were reelected and members planned upcoming meetings and service projects.

The Other Shepherd Nativity Play at Methodist Church

The Christmas service featured a children’s drama The Other Shepherd with the Story of the Shepherds. Reading from the stage, the children performed songs and a final Nativity tableau as the cast gathered around the manger.

Employees Earn 137.50 Each for Inventory Suggestion at McClellan Field

Edward R. Wechsel and a fellow worker at McClellan Field Sacramento received 137 50 each after submitting a suggestion to improve inventory count cards. The method is estimated to save the Base 13 000 yearly. Thirty six other employees also received smaller awards for suggestions.

Diller Community Club Names Officers for 1949

About 600 attended the Christmas party in the Diller High School gym where the 40 member Diller High School band performed and Supt Frazee screened films. Santa distributed treats with help from the Community Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Newly elected officers include President Mrs Scott Miller and Vice President Arthur Vieths, with four new board members Mrs Steffen E Jordening Horsky and Huttenmeyer. The club also planned its 3rd annual birthday party dance for early January.
