Rev Robert D Hall Congregational Pastor Dies in Atlanta

Obituary notes the death of Rev Robert D Hall a Congregational pastor born August 21 1878 on a North Dakota Indian reservation. He served with YMCA on Indian missions and in World War I camps later pastored at Nebraska reserves before retiring in Atlanta Georgia where he died December 15 and was cremated.

Mr and Mrs Chester Sparks enjoyed an oyster supper at the home of Mr and Mrs Eugene Diller in Fairbury Tuesday evening for Eugene Dillers birthday. Cpl Elmer Sasse, son of Mr and Mrs Albert Sasse, has been visiting the past week with his wife and child and will leave for Fort Bert Indiana the day after Christmas.

Scott Miller Comes Home After Hospital Stay

Scott Miller of rural Diller returned home Saturday from Dr. Lynch's Hospital after a illness. Rex Green and Mrs. S. Miller transported him in their car. He is slowly recovering and expected to be off work for some time. Several family arrivals and local movements are noted including Cpl. Richard Miller returning to Camp Robinson and Scott Jr. and his wife returning to Crete.

A wartime letter from Jimmy, a Merchant Marine sailor, expresses joy in serving and longing for home. He writes to his mother Derrice about past capers, ship life, and hopes to sail home soon. Harold Allen Joins 4th American Army at Fort Lewis

Harold Allen reports from Fort Lewis Washington dated December 12 1943 describing transfer from coastal artillery to field artillery in the 787th Field Artillery. He notes large barracks eight story buildings a four leaf clover insignia and travel from Fort Ord. He mentions fellow soldiers from Camp Callan and birthday spent on a troop train. Mr Diekman family moved to Fremont Nebraska.
