Mrs Floyd Hughes Suffers Severe Finger Injury

Mrs Elizabeth Hughes injured the second finger of her left hand while using a meat grinder at the store. First aid was given at the Waggoner store and Dr. Rice treated her at his office. A skin graft from her shoulder was planned to cover the exposed bone, aiming to avoid amputation and preserve piano ability.

Clark Family Attends Funeral for Charles Cox

Mrs. Rev. W. H Clark learned of her brother Charles Cox death in Fairmont. The Clark family traveled to Daykin to stay with sister Mrs. Zabel and then attended the funeral Wednesday.

Omaha visitors view recovering aunt and uncle

Mr and Mrs John Hayworth of Omaha visited their uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs Isaac Saylor last Sunday. Mrs Saylor had a sinking spell that morning but improved during the day. The Hayworths returned home Sunday evening.

Edward Schmidt nine year old son of Mrs Marie Schmidt and grandson of Mr and Mrs Gerd Henrichs Sr. was operated on about 10 30 P M Saturday night for ruptured appendix at Odell hospital. He is getting along as well as can be expected.

Mr and Mrs J Orval Cherry and daughter Betty traveled from Valentine Nebraska to Diller visiting Mrs Cherry's mother Mrs Jennie Upson and relatives including Chester and Robert Upson and Mrs Jas Pickard. They left twenty years ago for Valentine and had a 50 bushel corn year with truck farming nearby.

Bolender Wrigley Wedding at Fairbury First Christian

Miss Frances Bolender married J. Edmund Wrigley on Thanksgiving Day at the First Christian church in Fairbury at 4 pm with Rev. M Lyeral officiating. Pearl Bulender was bridesmaid Frederic K Wrigley best man Gwen Milbourne sang and Mrs Max Logan played nuptial music. A dinner for relatives followed at the Bolender home and the couple left for a brief wedding trip to Iowa.

Mrs Willis Clark and Petty with Mrs Clara Allen traveled to Lincoln Saturday, returning Sunday evening. They stayed at the H Z Dilier home and visited Effie at her brother’s well filled table Sunday noon. Effie delighted in the birthday cake with lighted candies and the birthday song.

James Garrett 74 Dies in Steele City After Stroke

James Garrett aged 74, a longtime Steele City resident since 1888, died at his home Friday evening after a stroke. Survived by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral held Monday at 1 30 p m at home and 2 p m at Presbyterian Church with Rev R S Williams officiating. Burial in Steele City Cemetery with Waggoner's funeral service.
