Fragmentary notes describe a snowy scene at Diller on Thanksgiving and a bruise causing an abscess on Lewis Meyer's left ear. The report mentions several inches of stew on the ground from a spill last Friday and a shift or two since, with details still unclear.
Card of thanks thanks helpers who saved the barn from fire. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Crocker express gratitude. Congregational church sermon by Rev Heimms next Sunday morning. Mr and Mrs Vern Casper Endicott and Mrs Lotts Farrew with families shared Thanksgiving dinner with Casper and Cheam family guests.
Mrs M Callander came home Saturday after a ten day visit to St Louis and other points in southeast Missouri where she spent time with friends and relatives. Miss Alice Line, who has been in Des Moines doing field secretarial work for Beta Sigma Phi, spent Thanksgiving with her brother in Chicago.

In district court at Fairbury last week the case John G Miller vs. Mrs Mattie Sasse et al found in favor of the plaintiff. He is to receive the estate subject to an annuity of 200 dollars to George F Miller. The estate comprises 160 acre farm located one and one half miles north and four miles west of Diller formerly owned by John H Miller.
Three weeks till Christmas as Mr A E J Southwick and others endure a siege with a large borel. Some of the beyae have had fairly good luck hunting rabbits since the snow fell. Henry Fouts of Clarinda Iowa visited Sunday with his mother Mrs Elizabeth Fouts and returned Monday.
A fragmented notice states prescriptions on file at a drug store were turned over to Dr. Diehl H. K. Shutt and Mrs backoon of Lincoliy. It also mentions Beatrice and the Mra. Jacksons visiting Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Mayborn and notes over two hundred volumes arriving at the Diller public Library to replace those burned or damaged in a recent fire.
Mrs Orleva McLaughlin spent part of last week visiting her husband Rev D B McLaughlin at Hastings state hospital. She returned home Saturday and reports his condition practically unchanged.
The Steele City squad of 18 husky players traveled to Diller on Monday and Tuesday for physical examinations ahead of the basketball season. They report a full schedule and anticipate a pleasant season.
The roads into and out of Diller are poor due to rains and snow with autos getting stuck daily north and south of town. H. K. Shutt has sold the drug store to an Alexandria pharmacist whose store burned recently, leaving Diller without a drug store for now. Shutt plans to move away but the destination is undecided. The community wishes the Shutt family well.
Mrs Orleva McLaughlin visits with friends in Fairbury. Homer Brunk travels to Lincoln on business. Edith and Maxine Patton work in Lincoln over Thanksgiving. H H Beckwith family share a Thanksgiving meal with Steele City kin. Gus Dressen returns from Excelsior Springs. Raleigh Re and daughter visit the Beil and Ethis households. Chester visitors spend Thanksgiving with Claude Exus and Dora Wohlfarth. Howard Peters hosts guests at his home. Mr and Mrs Schindler and Mr Roehrkasse join a seven o clock dinner. A sale notice: seller leaves town and requests all debts settled by January. 1932.
The community sale announced for next Saturday has been postponed because of poor road conditions and unsettled weather. A new date will be set later.
Early Sead morning a kerosene can exploded when Mrs. Henrichs touched a match to kindling in the stove at the Henrichs home. The can top struck her face but her clothing did not catch fire and the blaze was extinguished without the fire department.
A note explains the sale of a drug store due to economic conditions and competition making it unprofitable. It states stock remained to meet public needs and extends sincere holiday wishes to patrons as Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Shutt depart with fond memories.
A Mrs John Maine prepared a Thanksgiving meal brought to Mr and Mrs Ooka Lottman for dinner. Despite poor roads, the Maine family and children traveled from Norman Nebraska to attend and aid with the meal and festivities.
The Woman's club hosted a program on mail history with displays of old letters stamps and coins led by Mrs Grace Fasnacht and Mrs W Enderson. Nearby notes report district court postponement in Jefferson county to January 12 to allow Judge Mesmerore to serve on the state supreme court and Senator Wherry's gubernatorial bid on the Republican ticket.
Mrs Henrichs entertained a group at her home on Wednesday November 18 with a program of limericks contests and humorous verses. Mrs Viers won high praise and a merit, Mrs Sparks earned an honorable motion, and Mrs Andrews provided the most words in Thankegiving. Birthday wishes went to Mrs C H Cully and refreshments featured winter papkins and rose bud cups.
