Miller suit awards estate to plaintiff in Fairbury court

In district court at Fairbury last week the case John G Miller vs. Mrs Mattie Sasse et al found in favor of the plaintiff. He is to receive the estate subject to an annuity of 200 dollars to George F Miller. The estate comprises 160 acre farm located one and one half miles north and four miles west of Diller formerly owned by John H Miller.

Wintery folks note from Clarinda in mid December

Three weeks till Christmas as Mr A E J Southwick and others endure a siege with a large borel. Some of the beyae have had fairly good luck hunting rabbits since the snow fell. Henry Fouts of Clarinda Iowa visited Sunday with his mother Mrs Elizabeth Fouts and returned Monday.

Jacksons visiting Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Mayborn and notes over two hundred volumes arriving at the Diller public Library to replace those burned or damaged in a recent fire.

Mrs Orleva McLaughlin spent part of last week visiting her husband Rev D B McLaughlin at Hastings state hospital. She returned home Saturday and reports his condition practically unchanged.

Steele City Basketball Squad Preseason Examinations

The Steele City squad of 18 husky players traveled to Diller on Monday and Tuesday for physical examinations ahead of the basketball season. They report a full schedule and anticipate a pleasant season.

Diller Faces Muddy Roads After Rains and Snow

The roads into and out of Diller are poor due to rains and snow with autos getting stuck daily north and south of town. H. K. Shutt has sold the drug store to an Alexandria pharmacist whose store burned recently, leaving Diller without a drug store for now. Shutt plans to move away but the destination is undecided. The community wishes the Shutt family well.

The community sale announced for next Saturday has been postponed because of poor road conditions and unsettled weather. A new date will be set later.

Fire injures Mrs Henrichs at home kerosene incident

Early Sead morning a kerosene can exploded when Mrs. Henrichs touched a match to kindling in the stove at the Henrichs home. The can top struck her face but her clothing did not catch fire and the blaze was extinguished without the fire department.

Henrichs Hostess For Thanksgiving Evening

Mrs Henrichs entertained a group at her home on Wednesday November 18 with a program of limericks contests and humorous verses. Mrs Viers won high praise and a merit, Mrs Sparks earned an honorable motion, and Mrs Andrews provided the most words in Thankegiving. Birthday wishes went to Mrs C H Cully and refreshments featured winter papkins and rose bud cups.
