Mo. and Mrs. Roe Sparks and their daughter left Wednesday morning for Compton California from the home of Mr and Mrs Chester Sparks. They were accompanied by Mrs Norman Frisbie and her husband who will spend several weeks visiting relatives and seeing California for the first time.

4-H Club Achievement Meeting Held in Fairbury

One hundred twenty five persons attended the annual countywide 4-H Club Achievement gathering at the American Legion Hall in Fairbury on November 20. Leaders from sixteen clubs and ninety members were present for a music filled program sponsored by the First National Bank of Fairbury. Diller participants included Richard Steffen Max Logan and Raymond Nixon.

Thompson-Lange Ao Wedding at Zion Lutheran Church

The ceremony occurred November 25 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church seven miles east of Diller Nebraska with Rev Py C Spebr officiating. Bride Wilma H Thompson married Maynard Hoge. Bride wore ankle length white brocade dress with fingertip veil and carried roses and white button chrysanthemums. groom in navy suit with boutonniere. Reception followed at the bride’s home and the couple will reside on a farm south of Diller after March.

Weigel Farm to be Sold After 1885 Patent Change

Beatrice reports the Weigel family farm, held since the 1885 patent from President Grover Cleveland to Henry G. Weigel, is to be sold at auction today. The land has been tilled by a Weigel lineage except 1903 and 1904, with William L. Weigel of Beatrice noted as a descendant.

Thanksgiving Helpers Pitch In On The Caldwell Farm

Nubbies assisted by Osca Amos and Christ Malichow arrived Monday to help Lawrence Caldwell busk his corn and by evening the task neared completion. Mrs Malchow cooked the noon meal while Mrs Caldwell recovers from an infected ankle. Thanksgiving guests included Mr and Mrs Wm Weers and family, Mr and Mrs Norman Frisbie and daughter, Mr and Mrs Ernest Novotny and family, Mr and Mrs Chester Sparks, Mr and Mrs Harry Thon and others. Russell Madden left Friday to join the armed forces. Mrs C E Caldwell of Garden City Kansas remains listed in the same condition.
