Wayne Roseman writes from a warm climate saying he misses snow and plans to mail a new address. He notes daytime warmth, cooler evenings, and a winter without shoveling. He reports a weight gain to 210 pounds since last February and hopes for regular newspaper delivery again.
Word from Rahman’s sister says John Rahman left the hospital in California with the aid of a cane. He is staying at Rolf Beckman’s home and remains under a physician’s care.
Mo. and Mrs. Roe Sparks and their daughter left Wednesday morning for Compton California from the home of Mr and Mrs Chester Sparks. They were accompanied by Mrs Norman Frisbie and her husband who will spend several weeks visiting relatives and seeing California for the first time.
Mrs Frank Lisec (Itema Sible) of Byron Texas visits at the homes of her sisters Mrs Frank Grone and Mrs Donald Frisbie. She was a patient at Odell hospital for a few days last week. Mrs Willie Clark received birthday greetings by telephone from old neighbors. Mr and Mrs Sam Friday and Bethel of Conrad Iowa were in Sunday P M.
Plate lunch and program set for 8 o clock Tuesday evening December 9 at School District 42 five and a half miles north of Diller. Evelyn Renz, teacher.
Mr and Mrs Alvin Smith of Sioux City Iowa and Mrs Harry Smith of Jansen visited one day this week at the home of Mr and Mrs George Freitag raising a cordial North Central States social note.

The Methodist church announces its annual bazaar and supper on Friday evening December 3. Prices are 25 and 35 cents. The forecasted blizzard has not yet arrived.
One hundred twenty five persons attended the annual countywide 4-H Club Achievement gathering at the American Legion Hall in Fairbury on November 20. Leaders from sixteen clubs and ninety members were present for a music filled program sponsored by the First National Bank of Fairbury. Diller participants included Richard Steffen Max Logan and Raymond Nixon.
Congressman C Curtis notes dependents and recipients of soldiers allotment will soon receive a one page certificate for filing increased payments. Office of Dependency Benefits directs filling and mailing back promptly to expand the records system and handle added clerical work.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church Beatrice for Wanda June Smith five year old daughter of Mr and Mrs William R Smith Burial was at Wymore She is survived by her parents two step brothers Donald and Andrew and a stepsister Mrs Harry Lottman Wiona Smith
Mrs Flora Bixby has left her aid position at the Cavett home due to ill health. She suffers a heart ailment and plans to stay in Omaha for an indefinite period after seeking medical rest. In Beatrice a baby daughter was born Friday Nov 26 to Mr and Mrs Edward Lauder Ada Lucas.
Mrs Paul Kujath of near Diller is a patient at the Mennoite hospital in Beatrice.

The Farmers Store and Holie's Store announce new hours with Wednesday evenings closed to save fuel and lights and Sunday openings delayed to 10 o'clock.
The ceremony occurred November 25 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church seven miles east of Diller Nebraska with Rev Py C Spebr officiating. Bride Wilma H Thompson married Maynard Hoge. Bride wore ankle length white brocade dress with fingertip veil and carried roses and white button chrysanthemums. groom in navy suit with boutonniere. Reception followed at the bride’s home and the couple will reside on a farm south of Diller after March.
Beatrice reports the Weigel family farm, held since the 1885 patent from President Grover Cleveland to Henry G. Weigel, is to be sold at auction today. The land has been tilled by a Weigel lineage except 1903 and 1904, with William L. Weigel of Beatrice noted as a descendant.
Nubbies assisted by Osca Amos and Christ Malichow arrived Monday to help Lawrence Caldwell busk his corn and by evening the task neared completion. Mrs Malchow cooked the noon meal while Mrs Caldwell recovers from an infected ankle. Thanksgiving guests included Mr and Mrs Wm Weers and family, Mr and Mrs Norman Frisbie and daughter, Mr and Mrs Ernest Novotny and family, Mr and Mrs Chester Sparks, Mr and Mrs Harry Thon and others. Russell Madden left Friday to join the armed forces. Mrs C E Caldwell of Garden City Kansas remains listed in the same condition.
Dear Mrs Cavett writes from San Diego in November 1943 about Marine life, a nine month radar technician course in North Carolina, and duties in the mail tent. He notes tents, chilly nights, privileges, and crowded streets with servicemen, plus plans to visit Glenn Ball on furlough. A Thanksgiving dinner honors Cp Melvin Koch and local relatives.
A reception and dinner were held in the Lutheran church basement last Sunday to honor Rev. and Mrs. Otto Spehr Jr. The Congregation presented a cash wedding gift. Rev. and Mrs. Otto Spehr Sr. pastor of the state line church and Rev. and Mrs. Weichert of Lanham attended as guests.
CplRoyal Roskilly of Spokane Washington visited with his sisters June and Viole at Miss Garnet Barber's home Friday. On Sunday Garnet joined the Roskillys for dinner at their home south of Steele City.
High School Hi Lights covers the Eagle Alumni game with players from both teams, a tight score tied through three quarters, and the alumni pulling ahead in the fourth. Substitutes, officials, and local holiday activities accompany notes on pep club, dramatics, and student outings.
