W N Sparks J W Fouts and J O Blauser traveled to Summerfield Kansas on Wednesday to inspect an acetylene lighting plant and learn from a Diller merchant in a similar facility. Roy Nelson returned Tuesday evening from a sub postals run in the eastern part of the state and was aboard the No 15 west bound train involved in a wreck near Meer Sand.

Last night the remonstrance hearing against Henry C. Thomas’s saloon license opened and adjourned to 9 AM then to 1 PM with no decision. Attorney Hastings of David City represented the remonstrators J E Heasty of Fairbury spoke for them while W H Barnes of Fairbury acted for the village board. The pair of attorneys wage a stiff fight with no clear advantage for either side at press time.
A collision on the B and M near Violet Nebraska last Tuesday evening between trains No 16 and No 15 caused heavy damage to engines mail and express cars. Twenty five to thirty passengers were injured including Mrs Chas Riddle and Mrs Wm Barton. A special train from Wymore carried the injured to that city.
