Mr and Mrs S D Man have returned from Kansas and contemplate making their home here They formerly resided about four miles south of Diller
Elizabeth Greider celebrated her 85th birthday Sunday at the home of her son Harry Greider. A planned party was postponed due to inclement weather and will be held at a later date.
Mrs Hill and her son Charles returned from a pleasant trip to the lakes in Minnesota. Nat Thompson had been cared for by Mrs Cora Colman at the home of Mrs Hill’s daughter near Elligg before she returned to Diller last week.
Mrs Elma Limprecht from Lincoln returned home Sunday. She was accompanied by her two sons Dwain and Hollis, and Frank Bradley after a two week visit with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Clark. Also joining were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lowell who spent the weekend at the Clark residence.
Mrs Mary F Ludwick 84 announces arrival of a daughter Patty Joe June 2 1931 in Winchester Ind The newborns father Wendell Ludwick is son of C F Ludwick who is son of P L Ludwick and he is grandson of Mrs Mary E Ludwick all residents of the city The family and visiting daughter Mrs Eva Best are noted with older sister Miss Lida Drullinger living in Winchester and visiting from nearby.
Mr George F Riddle and Miss Mollie Hayes wed in Palmyra Illinois on August 8 1881. They traveled from Macoupin County Illinois to Diller Nebraska by covered wagon arriving December 17 1885. They lived south of Diller then in town since 1916. They have a daughter Mrs Bod Hill a foster son O Riddle ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Open house last Friday drew 134 guests from 2 to 5 PM and 8 PM relatives and out of town guests listed.
A pleasant Saturday afternoon linen shower for Mrs Archie Trout of Los Angeles was hosted by Mrs Herman Albers with help from Mrs Ray Eick and Mrs Frank Eick. Contests honored were bride’s trousseau planned by Mrs S C Hutchinson and dressing the bride led by Mrs A O Richardson with Mrs Cecil Ellis visiting. An 8% boy was born August 7 to Mr and Mrs Roy Roéis. Miss Mattie Henrichs R N is nursing the family.
A Steele City gathering marked a fiftieth anniversary with five original attendees and many visitors. Guests included M Riddle family members from Denver and Mrs Lou Ramsey, Mrs Mollie Culver, and others. A program featured a bridal party role play, gifts, pink and white refreshments, and memories from Denver and Brush visits.
Mrs Will Bernhardt found a smaller egg inside a broken egg while cooking. The oddity, a freak occurrence, surprised her and the household.
The BB Kensington meeting on August 11 1931 with eleven members and seven visitors approved a picnic for Sunday August 23 at the city park in Steele City. Absentees and guests from Endicott Tub invited members to a later meeting hosted by Mrs Anna Banahan with next gathering set for August 25.
