Coming events list picnics at Diller Deshler Jefferson and Fairbury fairs in August and September. Residents Velma Novotny Edna Cory Bristol Sparks Hill and other locals are mentioned visiting relatives, traveling to Omaha and Colorado, and moving to Greenwood.
The Diller community hosts its 35th annual picnic next week on Tuesday and Wednesday August 7 and 12. A full program features music by the Mouth band, an address by Attorney General C A Sorenson at 6 o clock Tuesday evening, free attractions, baseball games, a merry go round and ferris wheel, races and contests, concessions, and a platform dance each night. Residents invite friends and former neighbors to attend and renew ties. Other items note fall plowing progress, Pearl Caldwell’s visit to Fairbury, and Warren Stuart moving into the Dressen property.
William Vis was born the 20th ult to Mr and Mrs Elmer Pearce of Créte Nebraska. Elmer Pearce is a former Diller resident. Miss Phylis Patton of Diller Nebraska returned home Friday from Hollenberg Kansas where she nursed at the home of L L Meyer.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Moore left their sister Mrs Elias Hadley home after visiting for several days and headed home to Phillips Nebraska.
Henry Weers purchased the late Susan Randall’s west Dilller residence at an administrator’s sale last Saturday for 350 dollars.
Mr. and Mrs. R. F Starr will host for the coming week guests including Mr. and Mrs. J Vernon Starr and Miss Sue Alexander from Chattanooga Tennessee and Mrs Jacob C Stucker from Kansas City Missouri.

Mr and Mrs Fred Witty of Vliets Kansas spent the weekend with his mother Mrs Sarah Witty and sister Mrs R W Green and family continuing a family visit during a close weekend gathering.
The text lists dinner guests including Mr and Mrs W N Spark of Diller and Mr and Mrs Earle Atkinson plus son from Pittsburgh. Earle and family left Tuesday morning for Flagstaff Arizona where he will teach. Visitors Mrs Makincon a Sparks relative, and the Lindgrens, longtime Rock Creek residents, with links to Dwight Bundy of Fairbury are mentioned.
Eunice M. Henrichs returned from a five week west tour with Ruth and Elmer Frederick of Beloit Wisconsin and Mrs B M Parrish of Wymore Nebraska. They visited the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park spending two weeks at a sheep ranch owned by A T Harris and noted snow in Yellowstone versus Nebraska heat.
Miss Ruth Davis is visiting at the home of her mother Mrs H T Davis and sister Mrs Melvin Nelson. She has been teaching school in Wyoming.
Mrs Wea Nickeson has recovered the use of her arm broken in the Ellis fire on June 11. Splints have been removed a few days ago and she is reported improving.
Mr J L Kizer and his wife of Lincoln visited Thursday with their cousin Mr Howard S Wilson of Houston Texas. Wilson was en route home from Victoria B C after attending a California State Life Insurance convention.
Miss Ruth Eick married Archie Ray Trout at the Little Church of Flowers Glendale on Saturday August 1 in the presence of about one hundred guests. Rev Merle Fish officiated with Wilbur Lick giving the bride away.
The Diller public library will close Wednesday on account of a picnic. Anthony Rhoden is confined to bed for a few days due to heat. Orval Riddle and family arrived from Colorado Tuesday to attend the 50th wedding anniversary of his parents Mr and Mrs George Riddle being observed today.
A large group of Plymouth boosters and their band visited midweek, promoting a picnic held Wednesday and Thursday this week. The Record went to press before their arrival and could not report last week’s visit.
Mr and Mrs Cal Waggoner and Keith and Vivian left Friday for a ten day trip to Denver Colo for an eight state shooting tournament. A telegram from Cal arrived early. Thursday morning Cal and Chas Gunning tied for high in the big 25 yd handicap each breaking 97 of 100 targets.
Roy Riley W F Cramb R M Weblemoe and Doyle Buckles visited Diller on Wednesday to inspect the P W F highway and discuss needed gravel. They inquired about the upcoming Diller picnic next week and expressed Fairbury's support and willingness to assist the event's success.
The N R C met at Mrs. Fred Frisbie's home August 4 with all but two members present. Visitors were Mrs. Fannie Eick Mrs. Eula Calkins and Pearl Sparks. After quilting, refreshments were served and a next meeting planned for August 18 at Mrs. Margaret Albers with an all day event and a covered dish dinner.
On July 29 J N C members met at Mrs Keith Hays home for a pleasant afternoon and formal planning. An ice cream social was set for August 4 on the Hays lawn with nine members and seven children attending.
