Rock Creek Farmer Hurt By Aggressive Bull

Riley Clem, a Rock Creek farmer, was knocked down in his pasture last Saturday evening by a vicious bull. He suffered a broken rib and other ribs were rushed. The bull had no horns. Clem escaped through a nearby fence assisted by his loyal dog which drew attention and allowed him to crawl away.

Picnic at Diller Lodge draws crowd despite rain

The seventh annual Diller Lodge picnic at Hartzell's Grove drew many visitors aided by excursion trains from Wilmore and Fairbury. Local dignitaries praised mutual insurance, with performances by Pettits Concert Band, the Crown Quartette, and humorist A. In Bixby. A balloon ascension by Prof. Butler and a university-grade drill by the Degree of Honor provided entertainment as attendees enjoyed a successful day despite adverse weather.
