Clark's Produce offers poultry pickup at door. Beatrice and Lincoln travel notes reference visits and a Diller picnic.
Mrs. I. B. Holloway and her two children from Marysville Kansas arrived last week to visit Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Holle, spending time with the couple.
Ernest Sage and his family move this week to Miller South Dakota where he will manage the Habicht Brothers new store at that location.
Cal and Jim Sparks, just back from a western trip, visited friends and relatives near Diller and Hoe and left early this week for their home in Stanford Indiana.
Mrs John Pulee, her son Lester, and niece Mrs Roy McCune with relatives Mr and Mrs Earl Broadstone of California returned from Riverdale Nebraska where they visited sister and mother Mrs Ethel James chief telephone operator. They report the carp crop dried up in that locality.
Mr and Mrs A E Southwick and their son in law sod daughter along with Mr and Mrs Roy Edgington and the son Royal left yesterday by auto for Rochester Minnesota where Mrs Southwick will undergo treatment at the Mayo Clinic later the party plans Milwaukee Chicago and a lake trip with brief visits to numerous relatives in Illinois Iowa and nearby states.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spear and daughter Elizabeth with Mrs. A. H. Colman returned from an extended motor tour through eleven states and three Canadian provinces. The family traveled five thousand miles with only minor car trouble and visited St. Louis Chicago Philadelphia New York Boston Montreal and Toronto.

Rev Teckhaus who assisted at the mission festival at St Pauls Lutheran church and who was formerly pastor returned to his Wayne home Monday.
Mr. James Edmund and his two sons Ralph and James, with Mrs. Edmund, arrived Saturday to visit their nephew Paul Beck. The group stayed through Monday except Mrs Ralph Edmund who remained longer after the picnic.
A new elevator company named the Crittenden Grain Co. is organized at Lincoln to succeed the Nye-Schneider-Jenks Grain Co. It will operate line elevators at fourteen stations in Nebraska and Kansas, including Diller and Odell.
Mr and Mrs S D Maw and family from McDonald Kansas arrived Monday to visit their daughter Mrs H H Green and Mrs Frank Johnson and attend a picnic. Mrs John Maw and daughter went to No 16 Wymore Tuesday afternoon to visit her parents. Mr Maw reports the corn crop nearly finished in his area.
The marriage of Mies Hope Aileen Knauer former pastor of Diller and Steele City Presbyterian churches now of Seward to Lee Ashton Scott of Westphalia Kas was solemnized in the home of the bride's parents in the presence of a few immediate relatives at 9 30 a m Wednesday. After the wedding breakfast the couple departed by auto for a trip to the Ozarks. Mrs Scott is a Park College graduate and has taught in Kansas for three years. They will teach in Garrison Kas where Scott will serve as superintendent of schools.
The thirtieth annual Diller picnic was held in Hartzel's grove just south of town. It ran two days with rain delaying the Wednesday program while Ex-Gov. Bryan spoke to a packed crowd. Weather halted the ball game and no results are available yet. organizers expect a very successful event despite setbacks.
Afternoon program lists Governor addresses and band concerts at Diller with stunt airplane acts and parachute leaping by local groups and high school ensembles. Evening features more music, trick bicycling, and a performance by the Wymore Orchestra. Nearby residents listed include Carr, Nickeson, Fasnacht, Woods, Jobman, and others.
Paul Renz won a free Miller tube offered by a Diller filling station in a street tube pulling contest Saturday night. The event pulled five cars with an estimated weight of 10,000 pounds, extending twelve to fourteen feet before the break. Renz had guessed it would break at 9,250 pounds.
George Henrichs of Diller saved five pens at the fair to feature his Hampshire hogs, impressing attendees at the local display.
Fred sustained a nacerated finger that occurred during a pump incident. Medical attention was sought to treat the injury and prevent further complications.

H H Green and family visited Sunday with relatives in the vicinity of Crab Orchard. Mr and Mrs Jasper Long of McDonald Kansas have been visiting for several days with old Diller friends and remained for.
Mr and Mrs Homer Brunk drove to St Joe on Sunday and spent Monday buying goods for the Farmers Store. They returned Tuesday forenoon. Mr Brunk reports a vast corn crop between Hanover and St Joe.
Mrs Wieths and her daughter Hilda, after weeks with brother and uncle J. W. Madden at Ni Wat, Colorado, return home Friday. The pair enjoyed a mountain cabin outing and a trip to Estes Park during the visit.
E. F. Habicht sent two car loads of merchandise to Worthington North Dakota and ton Minnesota this week. The Habichts also operate stores at Wessington Springs South Dakota and continue expansion in the region.
The N. R. C. club met at Mrs. Lilly Richardson’s home on Thursday August 5 with seven members four visitors and three children in attendance. Guests included Mrs. Newt Hays Mrs. Frank Frisbie Velma Amos Mildred Richardson and Gladys Hays. Afternoon visiting ended with dainty refreshments and plans for the next meeting at Mrs. Alice Eick’s home on Thursday August 19.

Mr and Mrs Col Bugbee spent months at their daughter Mrs Stein kamp s home in Oskhosh and returned Monday to their house near Diller.
William E Fuqua a 33 year old farmer from the Zoellen area near Diller died suddenly at noon Monday after heat prostration. Survived by wife and three children. Funeral services were held at his house and at the Presbyterian church in Steele City with burial in Steele City cemetery.
On Thursday afternoon twelve cheerful children gathered to celebrate her birthday. Miss Alberta Folkers received praise for organizing the games and laughter. At five o'clock Miss Erma Robinson and Alberta Folkers served ice cream and two birthday cakes, and all left wishing Bernice many more such happy occasions.
