Cooper Company announced that its elevators at Humboldt, Barneston, Odell, Diller, and the home office will be designated by the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation as warehouses to receive grain tendered for payment of wheat crop insurance. This morning at ten the Diller Band marched in Hanover during the Days of ’49 celebration as a courtesy act. The Hanover band will return the gesture by marching to the Diller parade next Thursday afternoon.

Ill in hospital after pneumonia and heart failure

Mr. W. D. Delano became very ill last Sunday with pneumonia complicated by heart failure. He was transported to Steele City hospital by Waggoner's ambulance and, at the last report, was progressing nicely.

Robert Diller received last week an appointment to a position as assistant attorney with the department of Justice at Washington D C. He left for his new location Friday of last week, stopping over a day in Chicago where he visited his brothers Neal Diller and Aubrey. Diller is a University of Nebraska graduate with a Masters Degree, then earned a law degree after a course at the University of Chicago.

Local Teen Donna Wedde Visits Grandparents in Diller

Miss Donna Wedde visited her grandparents Mr and Mrs Charles Barber last Thursday. She works at a Wolworthy store in Sterling Colorado and plans to return before the picnic. Donna drove from Sterling at 5 AM arriving in Diller at 4 PM accompanied by a woman bound for Fairbury.

Sue Ann's Dad Milked The Cows

Raleigh Bell returning from a vacation to Okoboji and Minnesota found his parents away at milking time. He used large milk pails to fill them with milk, while his seven year old daughter learned the process and joked that squeezing the udder would release the milk. The Bells then returned to Lincoln where R. resumed work as a meat cutter.

Dean Barber sold Green Room Cafe to Clinton Sandman who assumed possession on Monday August 1. Barber joins Reliable Foods Product Co. and will start new duties immediately. Mrs Alma Tapley has taken the position. the Barbers ran a local eatery with Mrs Barber noted for her cooking. The new owner lacks a cook but plans to hire a first class one.

Hugh H. Logan Killed In Auto Truck Crash

Hugh H. Logan, 76, died July 29 1988 in an auto truck crash near Powell Wyoming. The Diller Nebraska native was born February 13 1912 and buried at Prairie Home cemetery after services at the Methodist church in Diller. He was survived by his parents Lawrence and Minnie Logan, a brother Rex and three sisters Mrs Ivan Jennings and Mrs Merle Sturm.
