43d Annual Picnic Parade Plans Scheduled Next Week
The 43d annual parade will follow the usual route from Congregational church east to M E church, south to City Hall, around to Clausen's pump shop, and through Main Street to the park. Entries are numbered, signs issued, and participants asked to be ready by 1 45 PM with the parade at 2 PM sharp. Treats for each child are planned and motion pictures of the parade will be taken.

Local Board Elects Bernard Goerke Diller School Principal
At a meeting last Friday the Board of Education elected Bernard L. Goerke of Burr Nebraska as principal of the Diller schools to fill the vacancy created by Carl Ludington’s election as superintendent. Goerke will teach Commercial courses Industrial Art and Athletics. A Peru State Teachers College graduate he excelled in college athletics including softball basketball and baseball where he was a high rated pitcher.

Jefferson County 4 H leaders and precinct committeemen met in the district court room to discuss the September 21-22 Jefferson County Exposition. Jefferson County Receives State School Apportionment
Last week Jefferson County received 6243.36 dollars as its share of the state school apportionment. One fourth or 1874.05 is prorated among the districts. the balance of 4369.31 plus local fines and licenses 381.53 is prorated to districts by school age children per census of 1938. There are 97 districts and 4312 children entitled. To share districts must have annual financial reports approved, levy at least seven mills, run nine months, contract with another district, and employ a qualified teacher.

Mrs. Moser Returns Home From Omaha Trip
