Memories Of Past In Small Nebraska Town Reflect On 1916
The article recalls 1916 rural building projects including a 40 by 50 barn on the Wm Freitag place and a 40 by 56 foot barn on Mrs. Harry Davis farm five miles northeast of Diller. It notes a double corn crib and granary on George Henrichs’s farm south of town, mentions Easter visits, Ford vehicles, a Kansas German Japanese clash in Fairbury, and past editorials about sheriff candidate PH Shea. It also describes Daykin as a thrifty village beside the KC&O railroad and a speeding Dr. Diehl Buick roadster.
