Diller Residents Travel to See War Tank and Local News

Gus Dressen spent Wednesday night with friends at Steele City. Dr G H Newton eye ear nose and throat Fairbury Nebr. Elmo Hadley went to Barneston Sunday to work on a new school building. An 84 pound girl was born to Mr and Mrs H K Shutt at noon yesterday. A lot of Diller people went to either Fairbury or Beatrice yesterday to see the war tank.

Beatrice Visit Notes and Legislative Stoppings

Mrs. H. E. Green returned Monday from visiting her mother Mrs. Emerson at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Hadley went to Beatrice yesterday to see the war tank and visit relatives. Representative R. C. Harris was in Diller Monday attending to legislative matters during a Lincoln lull.

R. F. Starr traveled to Topeka Kansas on business Tuesday. Mrs Dr O C Diehl made a business trip to Lincoln and back Tuesday. Mr and Mrs W A Cherry visited Mrs Carmony in Blue Springs Tuesday. Local notices record small social and business trips among residents.

Degree of Honor delegate leads Pleasant Lodge member

Mrs Albert Cully attends the Degree of Honor Grand Lodge as a Pleasant Lodge 96 delegate from Diller. A bond meeting and address from Fairbury will be held in Diller city hall Friday evening. The Farmers Union takes over O F Rigdon’s store with E S Dunn in charge. County officials name Gladys Hughes district court clerk candidate after her father’s death. Loree Thompson obituary a child of cheerful quiet life

Loree Thompson born June 19 1906 died April 13 1919 at age 12 years 9 months 26 days. She was cheerful helpful and loved by family friends and schoolmates. Funeral conducted by Rev H W Wagner at the Christian church with pupils from the grammar room leading the cortege and a decorated church for the service.

Floral tribute marks Loree burial in Prairie Home

A large funeral tribute in Diller honored Loree with flowers and relatives in attendance. The burial occurred Wednesday at Prairie Home cemetery. A Rev. Wagner sermon celebrated death as a gateway to an eternal life, with nearby mourners named from Barneston Lincoln Wilmar Steele City and Waterland. A poem read and dedicated to Loree referenced angels, gates of pearl, and children in heaven.

Good Friday service at 11 30. Easter Sunday worship at 11 o clock with Holy Communion after Sunday school at 10 o clock. Collection taken. 8 pm Ladies Aid Society meets.

The church holds Sunday school at 10 30 followed by the annual congregational meeting to elect officers for the coming year. All church members are urged to attend.

Zion Lutheran Easter Week Services and Program

Zion Lutheran schedules a communion service Friday at 10, Easter Sunday school at 9 30, sermon at 10 30 on The Risen Lord. An evening program The Easter King by the young people begins at 7 30 or 8 15. Pastor Otto Bergfelder invites all.

Methodist Message Calls for Easter Services and Offerings

The congregation celebrates Passion Week and plans for Easter with no special services this week. The Sunday school will meet at the usual time and members are urged to attend. Bring eggs for Mother's Jewels Home in York. The pastor will preach at Rock Creek in the morning and Rev Hinson will speak at 8:30 pm and lead the quarterly conference afterward. Officials are urged to attend the first business meeting of the year.
