The Young People of Hope Re formed church choose the Diller opera house for their annual entertainment this Saturday night. An advertisement lists the cast and promises strong dramatics with an admission of ten cents for children and twenty cents for adults.

Mr. and Mrs. HH Z Diller of Lincoln visited Saturday and Sunday with relatives near Diller and in Fairbury. They learned that Gene Diller was recovering nicely after a butcher knife accident pierced his side a week earlier.
Mr and Mrs M M Mason and their sons moved to Powell Wednesday to operate an 800 acre ranch. The Masons lived nearby about ten years and previously resided on the Mayborn farm six miles south of Diller for some time.
Mr and Mrs Noah Handley of Steele City and their relatives Mr and Mrs Fred Handley of Lexington Nebraska were visitors at the Protestant Orphans Home on Sunday afternoon.
Mrs Ross Hays and Stanley with Mr and Mrs C A Hays of Beatrice travel by auto to Springfield Missouri to visit Mrs Fern Hays Kent and husband. They plan to be away about one week.
Gerald Bowen a sophomore at Peru Teachers College spent Easter with his parents Mr and Mrs M C Bowen. He has been elected to teach district 89 two miles south of Diller for the next school term.
Baseball fans held a meeting last week and perfected the organization of a ball club for 1939. Bud Lottman was chosen as manager, Wilbur Green secretary, and Box Holle treasurer.

Mr and Mrs Charles Gaisford announce the birth of their daughter born Friday evening April 7 weighing eight pounds. This makes the second granddaughter for Mr and Mrs Vest Carmichael within two weeks.
A boy on a bicycle bumped into Roy Broadstone's son on the sidewalk last Saturday evening, leaving the child briefly unable to continue playing. The incident occurred on the sidewalk near the Broadstones' residence.
Miss Rachel Viers, Tecumseh schools instructor, visited her parents Dr and Mrs Viers and Serenus during Easter vacation. She was off duty last week due to illness.

Dr. Claude Ellis plans a double garage at his residence using timber from his barn. Wm. Bolinger and son of Blue Springs are carrying out the construction work.
Dr. O. C. Diehl spent Easter Sunday in Lincoln as the guest of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Wm Steffensmeyer.
Kenneth Fouts of Seward drove to Diller on Saturday evening for a business matter and returned home on Sunday.

A letter from Jimmie Redmond Bonham Theatre ads manager invites the Diller Orphanage to attend Shirley Temple in The Little Princess at the Bonham Theatre on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday April 18 19 and 20. The invitation is to be extended through the Oiler Record.
Diller plans a circus Thursday April 27 with afternoon and evening shows at the ball park. The Clark tents won’t fit at the pump house lot. Merchants’ tickets are printed for Diller business people and will be distributed soon. The Record will run special circus day advertising next week.
Mrs Norma Stahl and son Robert with Ruth Stahl and George Loth traveled to Lincoln last Thursday for a shopping expedition and to visit Mrs Carrie Wrigley. They shopped at department stores but did not report any purchases. An order for Farmers' Store goods, to be placed with a wholesale house, was forgotten.
Falls City teacher Miss Grace Myers spent Easter vacation visiting friends in Lincoln and Diller. She was accompanied by her friend Mr Cummings, also of Falls City.
The J. E. McLehn family has returned from California and moved into the McLaughlin residence in Diller. They plan to secure a farm for cultivation and pursue farming opportunities in the area.

Herbert Beckwith, long in poor health, was taken to Odell hospital last Saturday for treatment.
Clarence Findling reports his daughter suffered a severe finger injury when caught in a clothes wringer last Friday. Medical attention was sought for the damaged digit.
Mr and Mrs C Grubka and family and Mr and Mrs M C Bowen were Sunday visitors at the John Romisch home.
Miss Margaret Bull entertained a class of her high school students with a theatre party at the Bonham Wednesday evening, providing a social event for the students and inviting atmosphere for the occasion.
O. R. Geer has been confined to his bed with influenza as neighbors report his illness and care arrangements.
Tom Waggoner died Easter Sunday at his Savannah Missouri home from pneumonia aged 75 years. A longtime Burlington Railroad foreman he retired in 1932 and moved to Savannah. He was famed for strength and animal tricks especially his dog Buster and served in many Masonic lodge roles. He left five children and a large Diller area funeral attended by local Masons.
H C Colwell 73 retired rural mail carrier and longtime Odell resident died last Friday after an extended illness. Survived by two daughters Mrs Donald Bernadt and Miss Gladys residing at Odell. Funeral services were held Monday at the Odell Methodist church with burial in Odell cemetery by Waggoner Bros funeral service.
Robert Maw returned from Omaha Friday and stayed until Wednesday visiting family. He is enrolled in mechanical training at a NYA school.
Samuel R. Mudge 76 died at his son County Treasurer Earl Mudge’s Beat rice home after declining health. Born in De weese Nebraska he moved to Gage County as a boy and spent his life there. He was a stockholder in Dempster Mill Mfg Co Beatrice and recently retired. His wife died July 6 last year and he leaves four brothers and a sister. Funeral Thursday at First Presbyterian Beatrice with Rev. Ross McCown. interment Evergreen Cemetery Beatrice beside his wife.
