Four town offices in Diller open for the spring election on Tuesday April 6 with low interest. For village trustees four candidates run for two seats including incumbent S C Moser and S F Clark. Tristman not seeking re election. L M Cavett also a candidate. One term vacancy fills by C H Cully. For two school board trustees three year terms four candidates: J Smith Diller and H E Shutt seeking re election against B A Bell and H M Holle. Voting at City Hall with E E McCune in charge.
The Federated church ladies announce an arrival East er supper and bazaar to be held at City Hall on Saturday evening April 10. Proceeds support church activities and community programs.
A 1924 corn crib advertised for seed by Banaham Broc of Steele City with phone contact.
Last Thursday afternoon Blanche Reed marked her fifth birthday with a gathering of children who played games and hunted Easter eggs. A white cake decorated with pink and white rabbits and five pink candles awaited the group before ice cream and cake were served. Present were Marcella Shutt Wallace Farrow Elizabeth Green Betty Max and Robert Thompson Junior and Dicky Miller Cleo Green.
The Boy Scouts progress rapidly under Scout Master Clark and assistant Cavett. An exhibit of knot tying is posted in the post office. The group includes Richard May born, Richard Brandt, Graydon Harvey, Lester Strawhacker, Erwin Shutt, Burl Northup, Dean Barber, Wendell Fandere, Lyon Cully, and Allen Tristman. Also listed are Barred Rock eggs for sale, 50c per setting or $300 per 100, and a sorrel mare at 1250 pounds in foal, offered by Frank Grone.
For Sale some cane fodder in the bundle listed by W. T. Logan. Diller grain market reports corn at 65 cents, wheat at 1.40, oats at 35 cents. Root for cattle to pasture listed by Herman Sasse.
The April meeting of the Diller Parent Teachers Association will be held at the High School assembly Monday April 5 at 8 o clock. Harry J. Linton Beatrice will give the main address.
Rev. Mr. Clark president of the Jefferson county ministerial association attended the Fairbury meeting Monday. They discussed whether Jefferson county Sunday School conventions should remain with the State Sunday School association. A committee was appointed to arrange the county portion of the program.
The Woman's Club session Friday April 9 at 2 30 p m features a talk on the aims of woman s clubs and better homes with special music. Warren G Harding quote frames the theme and the Christian church hosts the event.
Dr C C Diehl was summoned to Frank Andersons residence after he suffered a stroke of paralysis on Monday afternoon.
One of the Modern Woodman regular meetings was held in the lodge room last week. Chas. Waggoner and M. Callander gave talks followed by a general good time that included a biscuit contest.
Mrs E F Habicht and son Graydon arrived in Differ Sunday from Worthington Minnesota to visit relatives and friends. They stay with Mr and Mrs Chas Waggoner. Rex Green and family visited relatives in Lincoln over the previous weekend. Mrs Fanders runs a large county school with thirty pupils enrolled. For sale Purebred White Wyandotte hatching eggs culled for health and egg production. Rhode Island Red eggs for setting four fifty per hundred. Mrs John Hilder dined at Charles Waggoner's Tuesday noon.
A rental notice offers a house and barn for rent with contact at 2 W Fanders. A separate line advertises sale of several hundred bushels of quality seed oats by J W Fouts.
H M Holle came back Sunday from Topeka Kansas where he visited his father and husband at the state hospital. the father is very ill with heart trouble.
Corn Belt Lumber Co. promotes a full line of repair parts for farm equipment. Roy Geer, manager, highlights available tongues and other fittings in hickory and oak to keep listers cultivators and plows in good condition.
C H Cully has moved into the Starkey residence which he recently purchased and is building a garage there.
Cane seed offered by F E Wolken at one dollar fifty cents per bushel. Listing shows contact as 21.
The Diller Record, edited by Diller High School students with Frank T. Pearce as publisher, lists staff editors Berenice Diller Mildred Mayborn and Hubert Filley. Editorials come from Eleventh and Twelfth English classes. This is the second time the school has edited the entire issue, the first being last fall.
The B. B. Kensington met with Mrs. C Woodse on Tuesday March 23 for an afternoon with roll call and St. Patrick's Day trivia. Mrs. R Thompson organized the program and the next meeting is scheduled at Mrs. Earl Wiegel’s home on Tuesday April 13 with recipes shared for roll call.
